I needed Whirlpool part #1167617 but it is discontinued. Also Canada Whirlpool will not deliver it to the US, and Home depot parts doesn't have it. They told me to Google it. ... Read moremy part. After speaking to a customer service person who said I could return the part if it didn't fit, I ordered. It was delivered in two days and fit like a glove. So if you still have this older unit air conditioner that still works and you want to use it a little longer, PartSelect knob #BT3075631 will replace Whirlpool knob part #1167617. Cosmetically, it's a little bigger on the outside but fits and works nicely.

I accidently broke the knob on our air conditioner. I unplugged the unit and removed the broken pieces and made sure that the actual on-off switch was not broken.
