My question is why does it smell so musty when i turn it on? I clean the pan with bleach,but the smell is coming from the vents? My 1st dehumidifier never had this problem. Is there anyway to clean it that you are aware of? Thanks,pam
Hello Pam, thank you for writing. The smell is likely caused by storing the unit with water still inside of it. Be sure to empty it before storing it. You can disassemble the unit to clean it thoroughly with equal parts water and distilled vinegar, by scrubbing the parts with a bristled brush and the water/vinegar solution, and by pouring the solution directly into the tank and letting it sit for 30 minutes. Thank you for your question. If your dehumidifier is not pulling water from the air, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the capacitor, the overload, the fan motor and the electronic control board. We have included a link that you may reference on how to check these parts.
