Drive wheels lock up, v-belt -3 L cogged recently replaced. Worked fine two cuts, wheels lock up forward and reverse

Hi Bill, thank you for contacting us. Considering the symptoms you mentioned, the issue seems to be with the traction cable, part number PS8800564. The purpose of the traction cable is to engage the drive wheels. Unfortunately, over time it may wear out and it may begin to fail in engaging the drive wheels causing the wheels to lock up. Wheels locked up can’t push it around I replaced the traction control cable #8800564 if I start it the mowers self propelled ability works but just Rear wheels locked up even when the mower is off

Hello Joiner, thank you for getting in touch. Check the tension on the new traction cable. If the replacement cable has too little slack, it maintains tension on the drive arm even when the bail handle is released, keeping the drive pinions partially engaged and preventing the wheels from freewheeling. Locate the adjustment barrel on the cable near the handlebar and loosen it to add slack until the drive arm returns completely to its resting position when you let go of the lever. Also, inspect the return spring at the lower drive arm where the cable connects to the bell crank. If this spring was dislodged or not reconnected during the cable replacement the arm cannot snap back to the disengaged position on its own. Clean any grass clippings or debris from the pivot area that could be preventing the arm from returning freely. We hope this helps.
