What does the code f dh mean on the front of my refrigerator? It will not dispense water or ice.
Hi Kim,
Thank you for your question. According to the LG website, if your refrigerator is showing this error code, it indicates that your refrigerator spent more than an hour trying to defrost. During the defrost cycle, the unit will increase the temperature at the evaporator to a preset temperature. If this temperature is not reached within 1 hour, the dh error code will display. To resolve this issue, unplug the refrigerator for 2 minutes to allow the refrigerator to reset. If this does not reset the refrigerator, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the main electronic control board, part number PS11710591, the defrost heater, part number PS11706358, and the thermistor, part number PS8751179. For the electronic control board, you will need to inspect it for any signs of damaged foil, wear, burnt connections, arcing, or any other damage. If you find any of the above, you need a replacement electronic control board. For the defrost heater, you will need to use a multi-meter. Use your multi-meter to test the heater for continuity. Set your multi-meter to the Rx1 scale and place the tester's leads on one terminal each. This should produce a reading anywhere in between zero and infinity. If you receive a reading of zero or infinity, you will need a replacement defrost heater. To test the thermistor, you will also use a multi-meter. Before testing them, you will need to place the thermistor(s) in ice water for 5 minutes in order to bring the temperature to 32 degrees F. The thermistor(s) will produce different readings at different temperatures, and the suggested ranges below only apply to thermistors at a temperature of 32 degrees F. With the probes on the terminals and your multi-meter set to Rx1, you should receive a reading of 16,600 ohms (+/- 5 percent). If you receive a reading outside this range, you will need a replacement temperature sensor or thermistor. I hope this helps with your repair. Thank you and have a great day!

What are the commons cost refrigerator not cold/not cooling?
Hello Mannora, thank you for reaching out. If the refrigerator door gasket is twisted or torn, gaps can form that will allow warm air in, resulting in the refrigerator not cooling properly. If the temperature sensor is defective, the compressor and evaporator fan may not run. As a result, the refrigerator will not be cold enough. The compressor start relay works with the start winding to start the compressor. A defective compressor start relay causes the compressor to not run at all. As a result, the refrigerator will not be cold enough. If the compressor is not working, the refrigerator will not cool. A faulty evaporator and condenser fan motor can also cause this problem. My freezer is getting too cold and the refridgerator area gets too warm. Temp of the freezer is set at Zero but runs between -25 and +5. The refridgerator section is set at 37 but runs between 33 and 44 degrees

Hi Travis, thank you for reaching out. When a refrigerator is new, the water lines, internal water tank, and new water filter are all sources of manufacturing odors and compounds. If it is old, then we would suggest checking the water reservoir, part number PS3618757. The water sitting in the internal plastic tank can absorb a stale or plastic taste. Video makes it look easy. Kenmore refrigerator does not have "groove" along the right hand side of switch that allows for pushing down on release. Used a thin screwdriver to get under to push while holding switch edge with pliers. Kept slipping. Tape sides to avoid scratching inside of refrigerator.
