My dryer will not turn on. the dryer was working (sets outside on porch) electrical storm and rain occurring so I had reached up to turn off as door was opened and has not worked since that happened. It will not turn on(the button that is pushed to start the dryer). I remember hearing a sound as it stopped. Thank you, Mary

Hi Mary, thank you for your inquiry. Confirm the door is fully closed; the dryer will not start with the door open. Remove anything that is obstructing the door. If it is fine, we would first recommend checking the thermal fuse, part number PS11741460. Thermal fuse shuts off the motor in an electric dryer when the dryer overheats. If the dryer hums but does not start, the start switch is not at fault. If the dryer does not respond or make any noise, the start switch could be at fault. Use a multimeter to test the start switch, part number PS11754857, for continuity. We hope this information helps!
