This washer lid switch is a critical safety component designed to halt the spinning motion of the tub when the lid is opened. Its primary function is to prevent accidental contact with moving parts during operation, reducing the risk of injury. The switch activates automatically, interrupting the spin cycle as soon as the lid is lifted. If the switch becomes faulty, the washer may not spin or may continue spinning with the lid open, posing a safety hazard. Replacement is recommended if the switch is damaged or no longer functioning properly.

Appliance spray paint is a great way to cover up any chips and scratches that have appeared on your appliances. Instead of replacing the part entirely, this is an easy fix. This is also a great way to give a fresh new look to any handles or areas that have discoloring due to wear. Make sure to clean the area before you begin and wear a protective mask for safety. Give the can a good shake and spray a few inches away from the surface. Apply the paint until the area is fully covered as desired. Wait until the paint has dried before using the appliance.

I washer makes grinding sound when washing
Chris Boyle Profile
Hello Elaine, thank you for contacting us. The drive belt might be defective. Over time, the drive belt can wear out and starts to crack. This causes the belt to make a loud noise whenever the motor is running. If the drive belt, part number PS11747978, is worn out or damaged, you may need to replace it. We hope this helps.

washer makes a high-pitched screeching/grinding sound when washing but not when spinning. Replaced belt and splutch, did not fix.
Chris Boyle Profile
Hi Deborah, thank you for your inquiry. Based on the issue description, you will need to replace the gearcase assembly, part number PS16220910, to fix the issue. Inside the transmission, internal gears translate the motor's high speed into the back-and-forth motion required for agitation. If internal plastic/metal gears lose teeth or internal bearings seize up exclusively on the agitation stroke, it will spin quietly but produce a harsh grinding/screeching sound during agitation. Glad to be of help!

Jay - For model number 11026002012
August 14, 2026
Machine makes a ticking noise during service and has water trapped underneath bucket. Appears to be mildewing. Takes long to complete wash and does not perform all cycles. Please advise. Thanks.
Chris Boyle Profile
Hi Jay, thank you for contacting us. Ensure that the drain filter is clear and there is no blockage in the drain hose. Once drained, run a hot cleaning cycle with a dedicated washing machine cleaner or two cups of white vinegar to eliminate the mold. Check if a loose coin or button is caught in the drum holes or trapped inside the pump. If the issue persists, you may need to replace the drive belt, part number WPW10006384. We hope this solves your problem!

Defective lid latch - Cabrio Washer
97 of 124 people found this instruction helpful.
  • William from Wakefield, RI
  • Very Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers
The instructions that came with the part were worthless. Essentially, unplug, put in new part, plug it back in. I spent a considerable amount of time on the internet and finally found a video showing how to open the top. Unlike other models, it is held down by clamps in the back rather than clips in the front. Once finding this inform ation the installation was simple. Remove the clamps and the back of the console, slide the top forward and lift, remove and replace the lock and reassemble. You don't even have to remove the hoses.
