Why won't the filter go all the way in? Causing the filter door to NOT CLOSE?

Hi Stephanie, thank you for your inquiry. Dispense two or three glasses of water from the door dispenser to release internal line pressure. Water pressure pushing against the internal valve is one of the most common reasons a new filter will not push all the way in. Once the pressure is relieved, try seating the filter again. Make sure the protective plastic caps or covers have been completely removed from the end of the new filter, these are easy to miss and will physically block the filter from seating fully. The filter door must be opened completely all the way before inserting the filter. If the door is only partially open the internal hinge mechanism blocks the filter from locking into position. Also, confirm the tabs on the filter head are aligned with the slots inside the housing before pushing in. If this does not help, inspect inside the housing with a flashlight for any cracked or broken plastic tabs or hinge posts. If the internal locking mechanism is damaged the filter housing assembly will need to be replaced. Glad to be of help!
