LG and Kenmore Top-Loading Washing Machines Recalled Due Risk of Injury

December 2012 - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with LG Electronics has issued a voluntary recall of 457,000 top-loading washing machinesin the United States.

LG has issued this recall after 343 reports of washing machines vibrating excessively, of which at least 187 involved minor property damage. One minor injury has been reported.

This recall involves three LG and three Kenmore Elite Brand top-loading washing machines,sold at Sears. They were sold in beige, white and graphite steel colors.

The top-loading washing machines were sold between April 2010 to December 2012 and cost between $899 and $1,099.

CPSC advises consumers who have observed their recalled washing machine shaking excessively immediately stop using it.

To find out if your top-loading washing machine is part of the recall, locate the model number and serial number of the appliance and visit LG's Public Notices Website or compare them against the chart below. Model and serial numbers will match with one of the following sequences:
