Common Air Conditioner Model Number Locations

Step #1: Use the guide below to find your air conditioner model number

Window Unit / Built-in

  • 1
    To the left of the fan opening, on the weather barrier
  • 2
    At the top of the unit in the cool air exhaust port
  • 3
    On either side of the exterior
  • 4
    Behind the front grill on the frame, near the bottom
  • 5
    Below the control panel

Central Air Conditioner

  • 1
    Above the refrigerant valves on the back of the air conditioner
  • 2
    On the side of the unit near the run capacitor or electrical lines that go into your home (you may need to remove an access panel)

Portable Air Conditioner

  • 1
    On either side of the exterior
  • 2
    On the back of the unit where the power cord is located
Step #2: Search with your Model Number to find your part!

Sample Model Number Tags

Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
