HSS25IFMDWW Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

I just follow to the video and take step by step. It's was very helpful and easy. Thank you.

Removed the Control Panel and the outside of the Dispenser Outlet. Removed the Flapper Door and the solenoid. Replaced both parts with new parts, and re-assembled. The pin, at the top of the Solenoid was badly worn and the plastic arm was very rough on the surface adjacent to the worn pin.

Removed old slides and installed new slides.

Repair was rather simple. Removed the appropriate shelves and to make it easy to get to. Removed the ice container. I had to remove several items to get to the evaporator fan. Removed the ice dispenser motor cover, air duct cover, and the evaporator orifice cover. After all was removed the fan assembly was still attached to the orifice cover by the evaporator fan bracket. Remove bracket to remove the fan motor and assembly. Replace the all the old parts with the new and start the reassembly process. Really the only difficult part was working in such a small area. Good luck.

Replacement was simple. Remove the drawers. Suspend the cover pan glass with masking tape to keep it above the rail. With a 1/4" nut driver, remove the two nuts that hold the drawer slides in place. Remove the old slides and install the new. Remove the masking tape from the cover pan glass and replace drawers.

I followed the video. Everything was extremely easy, but I am 74 years old, have never repaired anything, and have arthritis in my hands. When I got to the step where I had to push in on the tabs, I couldn't do it. I had a friend push in while I pushed up...voila! But it took two of us. I also had a little trouble putting the spring back as it had been a few days since I had removed it. For us beginners, Steve, close-ups of things would be useful. I LOVE this site, however, and will use it again. You saved me over a hundred dollars! (I know because this lousy part has broken twice before.) Now that I know its name, I will not be crushing ice anymore.

Turned the water off to the refrigerator. Pulled the refrigerator away from the wall opening. Removed the back lower panel. Removed the lines to the water valve. Removed the electrical connections. Installed the water lines on the new valve and verified they would not pull out of the push in connections. Installed the electrical connections. Turned the water on and checked for leaks and proper operation. Reinstalled the back panel and positioned the refrigerator in it's proper position.

I was able to fairly confidently identify the problem from the on line parts break down. Having had an appliance repairman tell me the inside door seal would need removing to access the dispenser, I searched comments in the blog, and found a note that one only had to poke the two tabs on the bottom of the control panel to remove it, and easily access everything. After that, it was a few screws, some minor assembly to remove/replace the light and switch, and very easy replacement. I was able to reuse the dislodged flapper seal, and didn't need either spring, but compared to the repairman's estimate, I still came out a couple hundred bucks ahead. thanks

Removed control panel by inserting small screwdriver in the 3 holes underneath to loosen. Remove 4 screws holding circuit board . Unplugged 3 connectors. Removing circuit board gave access to flapper. Removed flapper by unclipping. Installed new flapper and reversed disassembly procedure. This was 2nd time in 2 years I had to replace this part.

After recieving the water pump and ice maker repair kit,i had my laptop on the counter. Your video of Steve the repair man made the job extreamly easy. Your concept of ordering and repairing is awesome! Thanks.

per instructions supplied with main electronic control board. was much easier than I thought it might be.

Ice maker was side mount instead of rear mount as shown in previous insructions. Removed one screw and slide ice maker forward. used flat head screw driver to undo the ice maker plug. The ice maker came right out. Removed old ice maker fill cup and put it on the new ice maker. Slide the new ice maker into place and used the same screw to secure it. Pluged it in and turned on the ice maker. Had new ice in a couple of hours. It comes with a round plug to square plug adapter, new fill cup and fill tube, all of which I didn't use.

Only needed to remove one screw, slide unit out and disconnect the power cord. Theb reverse the above operation to install the replace ice maker unit. Quick and extremely easy....

Had to remove all the covers and fans to expose the condenser, which was difficult as the parts were frozen to it. The styrofoam covering the condenser made it almost impossible to defrost it. Therefore, I ripped the styrofoam off to expose the condenser. Was not really difficult to fix the styrofoam cover using metal tape. Replaced temperature sensor in aluminum block, and used butyl sealant to secure. Had to also re-install parts of ice-ball kit that were not well covered. Lots of parts to keep track of, but anyone could do it.
