This water inlet valve attaches the water lines to the back of your appliance. The attaching solenoids on the valve open and close according to the desired temperature, or amount of water needed. Sometimes these valves are called mixing valves, because they essentially mix the cold and hot water together to create “warm” water. Another common term is water solenoid.

Water constantly leaking in tub after cycles were complete.
Unplugged electric cord from wall receptical, pulled drain hose out of wall drain, removed both water hoses from back of washer, unscrewed the metal plate that is around the water outlets from the back of the washer first and then from the valve itself. I pulled the part as far out of the washer as I could and removed the wire connectors
... Read morefrom hot and cold side of valve, then used pliers to loosen clamp from around the rubber hose coming from inside the washer making sure not to drop the clamp down into the backside of the washer. Repeated all of those steps in reverse to reconnect the new valve and shizzam! No more leaking inside the tub when cycles are complete! Who says a girl can't fend for herself? Once again..thank you to "PartSelect" for guiding me in the right direction and saving us a lot of money :)

I replaced the water pump, idler pully, and belt. I then plugged it in and there was nothing, no water, no sound. There is power running to the timer, and power running to the inlet valve, but no water. Could the inlet valve be responsible for this?
For model number SAV2555AWW
Hello Aaron, Thank you for the question. This could indicate a defective valve. We suggest testing the Valve with a Multimeter. Set your multitester to the R X 1 ohms setting to test for continuity. Place each of the multitester's leads on a terminal. Your multitester should display a reading between 200 and 500 ohms. Closely examine your water inlet valve. The exact ohm resistance rating you should test for may be marked on the valve. We hope this helps!

Water will not run in. Will fill using hose only. And then it operate.
For model number Sav3710aww
Hello Anthony, thank you for contacting us. The water inlet valve (part number: PS11740591) is responsible for filling the washer with water. It can fail both electrically and mechanically. When defective, water will not fill the washer and it is recommended to replace it. Please feel free to reach out if you need any further help, our customer service is here to assist.
