This v-shaped spin belt helps transfer power from the motor to the transmission to help pump the water in and out of the washer. It also helps runs the spin cycle in the washer.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
Had to remove pump-not easy. Nothing wrong with pump, but had to trash it to get it off the motor shaft, so I had to replace it, too.Pop up top of cabinet and remove front panel. (I leaned unit back against a wall to facilitate internal access once panel was removed.)Remove motor assy - 4 screws & connector.Remove 3 pump screws (torx) and 2 hoses. Pry pump off motor shaft (not easy). I used a heat gun to help expand the plastic fitting on the motor shaft.Remove old belt, put on new belt. (Do not use automotive belt-this belt is designed to slip because it also spins the tub. The tub will not spin when it's full of water, and the pump will not pump the water if the tub is bogging down the pump. Plus, you will probably overheat the motor.)Press new pump back on motor shaft (advise not to re-use old pump as seals were probably damaged by removal process.)Caution: Pressing pump onto motor shaft may cause pump rotor to bind in housing. Try to press it on a little too far so you back off slightly.Replace pump screws.Replace motor, giving attention to belt alignment.Replace motor screws and connector.Re-attach hoses on pump.Button up cabinet.Done.The hardest part was removing the pump. If not for that, it would have been a 15-min, $20 repair.Because I felt it wise to replace the pump also, it was a $70 repair.

This was the second time for the repair. The original bearing lasted 5 years then became noisy. Replaced it, and the unit worked great 5 more years and the noise came back. So I knew exactly what needed fixing what to order, parts wise. This is not a project for the faint of heart, you will completely disassemble your washer to change out the main bearing. Roughly here are the steps: 1, pull out the agitator with a good firm jerk up. 2, remove the rubber plug in the center of the drive hub, 3 remove the bolt you have just exposed. 4, pry up on the hub, use a puller if you have to to remove it. 5, pry off the cone shaped rubber seal and remove the large main nut from the drive shaft. 6, remove the 4 bolts holding tub, 7 remove the front panel and unscrew the front of the top panel, tip the top up. 8, lift out the tub, 9, remove the 6 large springs holdig the inner assembly to the base, 10, disconnect the water to tank hose and the fill level hose, 11, disconnect the motor cable at the motor, 12, free up the drain hose and pull it, 13, have a helper lift the inner assembly out and move it to a work area, 14, unbolt the drum from the base, motor, and counter weight 15, pry the drive hub off the transmission shaft, 16, remove the rubber seal from the drum, 17 flip the drum and remove the 3 bolts holding the bearing in place. Reverse to put it back. These steps are from memory so they may not be exact. The exploded views on PartsSelect.com web help, as to the instructions that come with the parts.
It took some trial and error but overall not a difficult project. 1. Take the front covers off. 2. Undo the pully spring to loosen belt 3. Remove belt off idler pulley wheel and free up belt from the large wheel. 4. Disconect the wiring harness and the hoses. 5. Undo the motor mounting bolts (4) 6. Take motor out of washer and remove the 3 screws holding the pump to the motor. 7. The pump had melted to the shaft and required I chisel the pump off of the shaft. 8. Attach new pump paying attention to where the belt is positioned. 9. Reattach the motor bolts, hoses, and wiring harnes. 10. Attach the belt and test the pump. 11. Put the front back on.
Unplugged the washing machine and turned off the water to the machine. Removed the two front covers; unhooked the two front springs; removed the (4) motor mounting bolts; unhooked the two hoses for the water pump; unhooked the wiring harness; removed the belt from the driven pulley; pulled the motor assembly out; removed the (3) screws to separate the water pump from the motor; removed the belt from the motor pulley; installed new belt and repeated above in reverse to put everything back together; started washing machine and it worked great.
All went well 1-remove front panel 2 screws 2-remove 2 front springs tilt tub 3-forward bottom out 4-remove pump 3 torx screws 5-r and r belt pulley and spring reassemble fast service as well thank you
took off 2 bolts on front panel (at the bottom). removed the spring tentioner.next i spun the belt around until it came offthe pullies.Then i removed 4 bolts holding the (pump and motor) spun this around to expose the pump screws(4) Took off the pump and did the same inreverse order except i put a new belt on also...Good LUCK!!!
Typical disassembly of a Maytag model SAV365ZAWW. Being an older model, I researched the Parts Select web site trying to identify the parts that others had found to need replace when solving the same problem. The web site pointed to a triple lip seal and hub kit as one of the parts that were needed. I e-mailed Customer service, asking questions about the suggested kit but never received a response, additionally the on-line expert feature was not functioning that day. I finally ordered the suggested parts. To Parts Select credit, the parts arrived the next day, even though I had selected the cheapest shipping option.The delivered PS2177501 - Triple Lip Seal and Hub Kit, indicated on the web site as “Works with your model!“ , did not match the style of seal that I removed from the tub. I contacted Customer Service and explained my issue. The Customer Service representative suggested that I call Whirlpool directly to confirm the correct part, based upon the serial number, which I did. What I found out was the web site had an incorrect item list and I had received the wrong item. Parts Select arranged for the return of the part and assisted me in ordering the correct part. Once again, the parts arrived the next day.The reassembly basically went well, following the provided instructions. This was the first repairs on what has otherwise been a very reliable machine. It now works and sounds like it is new.Aside from the web site Parts Select handled the issue well. A word to the wise. If the parts diagram suggests that there are different series within a model, be sure to confirm that you’ve made the proper parts selection
I removed the front cover to gain access to the motor. I saw that the belt was starting to get chewed up so I removed it. While looking at the schematic on Parts.com I noticed the Idler Pulley Wheel was much larger then one currently on the machine. I ordered that also in case I needed it. I needed it. Once I replaced the belt and the pulley the machine ran better then ever. Originally I thought I just needed the belt but thanks to Parts.com I realized I needed a little more. Thanks.
I searched "sav2655aww repair" (my model number) on the internet, and found people who had the same problem - and did the same repair. Some put up very detailed instructions. Anyway, with instruction, it was a pretty easy job. Remove the front panels, disconnect the hoses from the water pump, unplug the electrical connector from the motor, remove the 4 bolts that hold the motor mount, and slip off what was left of the belt. To replace the belt, I also needed to temporarily remove the water pump (3 torx screws) from the motor, because the belt snaked in between those two parts. Once replaced, I remounted the motor, slipped the belt over the main wheel (under the tub), set the belt tension wheel to take up the slack, and reattached the hoses and wires. Surprisingly, the belt replacement took care of the noise (the whole unit would sway out and repeatedly hit the front panel during a wash - I suppose it wasn't agitating or spinning correctly). Works like new.
First I removed 2 screws at bottom of front panel and removed it. 2 screws under front of top to lift it out of the way.Then removed agitator following directions supplied in seal kit, removed inner tub, removed transmission shaft nut, then the hub. Cleaned up all the parts as instructed, followed detailed instructions for installing new seal kit. I moved on to belt replacement.I removed the 2 front tub support springs, 4 bolts from motor mounts, disconnected motor wiring at motor and removed motor, then removed 3 screws from pump assy. at bottom of motor and removed it. Replaced worn belt,and reassembled pump to motor,careful to position belt properly between pump mounts.Then reinstalled motor, reinstalled tub springs, hooked it up,ran it to check for leaks, then closed it up. RUNS LIKE NEW
Remove bottom and top front panel to access motor. Remove motor by loosening four bolts. Remove spring that applies pressure to the Idler pulley wheel. Pull out electrical connector by pressing on the tab on top. Remove rubber hoses by gripping clamps with pliers. Unhook belt from pulley at bottom of tub. Pull out motor. Push upward and inward the top of the tub to make pulling out the motor easier. Remove allen screws that secure the plastic pump housing so you can remove the belt. Replace belt. Remove retaining ring to replace Idler Pulley Wheel, remember to order replacement washers, mine was brittle and disintegrated so had to remove the second one from the bottom and used only one each side, seems to work fine. Reassemble everything in reverse order. It now purrs like a kitten, wife is now happy doing the laundry, I get to ride my motorcycle this weekend at the Los Angeles Crest Highway carving the canyons, whoohoo! Life is good.
(UNPLUG APPLIANCE FIRST! )Used large flat bladed screwdriver to remove tub damper springs on front of tub.Then remomoved washer pump hoses after placing towel underneath to catch waste water.Removed four bolts holding motor and pump assembly to tub pulled it forward slightly to remove motor electrical connector, turned assembly over to remove pump ("torx bit")Intalled new belt being mindful of routing and idler pulley. Seems new belt is slightly longer requiring a little tension spring adjustment might have to replace it also. Washer now functions properly!
I followed the online line advise but I wait to add a few important notes. First, clean and use Loctite (blue works fine) on the four sheet mental screws holding the motor assembly to the internal frame. Next, mark the two capasator wire as they will have also to be removed. You probaby won't find the exact spin belt number on PartSeclect's site. By all means don't guess. Call the 1.888.895.1535 help number. They have all the cross-reference part numbers for the correct length belt.
Pulled motor, as the belt will not come off unless you take to water pump off off the motor. Installed new idler wheel, washers, clips and belt. Reinstalled motor.Works good and hopefully lasts a long time!
The knob and timer were a piece of cake to replace. Amana designed this machine for extremely easy access to the control panel area (i.e. timer)The belt was the challenge (as should be expected).The water pump must be removed to replace the belt .This requires a #25 Torx bit and an awkward position. I dicided to drop the motor and pump together to gain easier access to the pump mounting screws.This was definately the key to success.
