From Google to PartsSelect. Reading the forum, the consensus was that to fix the nonworking dispensers the main refrigerator motherboard had to be replaced. I ordered it which is easy to do because the diagrams show all the parts clearly. Great website. I also ordered the front trim piece because I had snapped one of the prongs holding it on. They arrived quickly. The trim just snaps on the front which takes a few seconds. The motherboard which is just a circuit board, even came with replacement instructions. It takes a few minutes to wheel the refrigerator out, then take off the back panel (3 screws), unplug all the connectors, unsnap the circuit board, snap the new one in, plug the connectors in, reattach the back panel, and wheel the refrigerator back to the wall.

The water dispenser promptly froze up. To make sure that it is not the solenoid valve, unhook the water hose under the freezer door. Pressing in the water dispenser should pump water out of the hose onto the floor. It did for me. Since there is only plastic tubing after that, it has to be clogged with ice. I took a thermocouple, inserted the wire into the water dispenser outlet, it would only go in about 3 inches and displayed 31 F. I took a plastic funnel which slipped onto the end of the outlet and used a blow dryer to heat up the outlet a lot several times. Eventually the ice unfroze and it has been working ever since. I think if this happens again, I'll get a cheap aquarium aerator to pump air, for the hours it might take, through a thin tube (using wire insulation) to the frozen spot to melt the ice.

While the refrigerator was away from the wall, I took off the screws holding the large bottom panel in the back off. This exposes the condenser cooling which visually needed to be cleaned off with a vacuum cleaner. After doing this, it seemed to make the refrigerator run much more efficiently.

The refrigerator has been working perfectly for past month and it makes me so happy.

opened refrigerator door located water filter location in right back corner unscrewd 1/2 turn and out it comes without shutting off water it is a snap to do by anyone and shipment was really quick thanks. People do not call a service tech for something this simple even a child tall enough can do it.

Repair was simple; unscrew and unsnap the various pieces, and snap-and-screw it back to together. But what a disappointing design. Between replacing seized solenoids (twice) and plastic parts, this through-the-door dispenser "feature" is a maintenance money pit. Sure glad that PartSelect can provide the parts quickly.

Removed panel from front of freezer door by pushing up on three spring loaded screws located in the opening where the ice door opens and closes. they are about 1 inch apart on the bottom of the opening. Push up to free ice maker panel. Remove three screws from solenoid, located at the top right. Remove wire, replace with new and that is it. Fixed the problem!! Our ice maker hadn't worked for months. Be careful if you remove the round ice maker door to clean. There is a spring that located on the left side of sprocket. The spring fell off and took me a while to figure where it came from. Recieved package in three days and the job took minutes. Works great! Very easy to complete.

I had taken the noise long enough and wanted to get this repaired. I didn't want to pay a repair man hundreds of dollars to do it so i decided to do it myself. I went on to YouTube and found a few videos that showed me how easy it was to do (very helpful).

I wasn't so sure all that noise would come from the Evaporator Fan motor so i ordered it and took the chance. For the small cost, it was worth the try.

All went well accessing the unit and removing the old part. Very fast indeed. However, the snag came when i went to plug in the new part electrical to the existing electrical adapters. The old part had 4 lead connections. The new part had 6. and the wires on the new part were different colors than the existing. I had to use some logic and courage to cut the wires on the new part and rewire the old adapter to this piece. Luckily, i wired everything correctly.

Calling Part Select got me a phone number for the parts manufacturer to help with the splicing but i opted to do it on my own.

The result is i have a noiseless refrigerator again. What should have taken 10 to 15 minutes took half an hour because of the wiring but overall, very easy.

FREEZER WAS NOT COLD ENOUGH TO KEEP FOOD FROZEN OR MAKE ICE

I AM A SINGLE MOM OF TWO WITH LIMITED FUNDS. I HAD A REPAIRMAN COME OUT AND FIND THE PROBLEM AND GIVE AN ESTIMATE. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS THE EVAPORATOR FAN MOTOR AND AND THE MAIN CONTROL BOARD. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $400 AND NO GUARANTEE. SO I CHECKED THE COST OF PARTS AND IT WAS $200 SO FOR NO GUARANTEE I FIGURED WHY NOT TRY IT MYSELF AND POSSIBLY SAVE $200. SO I ORDERED THE PARTS FROM PARTSELECT. EVEN THOUGH I PAID THE CHEAPEST POSTAGE THEY ARRIVED THE NEXT DAY. SO FROM WHAT I READ AND SAW THIS WOULD BE A PIECE OF CAKE. WELL LET ME JUST SAY IF THE FREEZER SECTION WAS GUTTED TO BEGIN WITH IT MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN THAT BIG OF A DEAL. AS IT WAS GETTING TO THE TOP SCREWS OF THE PANEL THAT COVERS THE EVAPORATOR FAN REQUIRED THE REMOVAL OF THE ICEMAKER AND ALL. I AM NOT A TALL WOMAN NOR AM I A THIN WOMAN AND FITTING MY BODY IN THAT SMALL FREEZER SECTION WAS NOT EASY. THERE WERE TIMES THAT I HAD TO HAVE MY TEENAGERS REACH A LONG ARM IN AND HOLD A PART UP FOR ME. AFTER THAT I DISCOVERED THAT THE FAN I HAD PURCHASED ONLY HAD 4 WIRES. THE ONE FROM MY OLD FAN HAD 6. I DISCOVERED THAT 2 OF THE WIRES WENT TO SOME SORT OF SENSOR. LONG STORY SHORT I RIGGED IT. I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE 2 PRONGS FOR THE SENSOR AND INSERT THEM INTO THE EMPTY HOLES ON THE NEW FAN HARNESS. IT WASNT EASY. I HAVE LIMITED TOOLS TOO AND I WONT EVEN GET INTO HOW I DID IT. THEY DID NOT FIT THE GREATEST SO I USED THE ELECTRICAL TAPE TO COVER THE WHOLE CONNECTION. I PUT THE WHOLE THING BACK TOGETHER AND DEBATED ON TRYING IT WITHOUT PUTTING IN THE MAIN BOARD BUT I DECIDED TO TRUST THE REPAIRMAN THIS TIME AND GO FOR IT. GETTING TO THE MAIN BOARD WAS NO BIG DEAL. BUT WHAT DISTURBED ME WAS THE MAIN BOARD I HELD IN MY HANDS DID NOT LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE MAIN BOARD I WAS ABOUT TO TAKE OUT. I WATCHED THE VIDEO 3 TIMES MY HOW EASY IT LOOKED. I THEN READ THE DIRECTIONS THAT CAME WITH IT. IT TALKED ABOUT REMOVING A PIN AND CUTTING A WIRE. WELL I ABOUT HAD A STROKE WORRYING. I FINALLY FOUND THE SERIAL # ON MY FRIG AND THANKFULLY MINE WAS NOT ON THE LIST. HOWEVER THE DIRECTIONS DID STILL SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IF THERE WASNT A WIRE IN PIN 2 PROCEED TO STEP 3. WELL I HAD A WIRE IN PIN 2. SO IT WAS CONFUSING. MY SERIAL # WASNT ONE OF THE MODELS #'S GIVEN BUT I DID HAVE A WIRE IN PIN 2. I JUST TOOK A CHANCE AND TRUSTED THE SERIAL #'S AND IGNORED THE REST OF IT. I PLUGGED THE WIRES ON THE NEW BOARD ONE AT A TIME. PUT THE COVER BACK ON AND PRAYED AS I PLUGGED IT IN. A SOFT PURR BEGAN. IT WAS RUNNING. THE FREEZER WAS AROUND 60 DEGREES. I PUT A ROOM THERMOMETER IN TO MAKE SURE IT WAS GOING DOWN. IT KEPT GOING DOWN. AROUND 3 HOURS AFTER I FINISHED THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE FROM THE FREEZER. IT HAD MADE ICE SOMETHING IT HAD NOT DONE IN MONTHS. I STAYED AWAKE MOST OF THE NIGHT WATCHING AND LISTENING TO IT. IT GOT DOWN IN THE SINGLE DIGITS I WAS AFRAID THAT MAYBE IT WOULD NEVER SHUT OFF. IT FINALLY SHUT OFF AS I WAS MAKING THE KIDS BREAKFAST THE NEXT MORNING. OF COURSE I WAS WORRIED THAT IT WOULD NOT RESTART. SO I OPENED THE FREEZER AND FANNED IN ROOM AIR. IT WORKED. SINCE THEN WE HAVE PURCHASED NO MORE DRY ICE OR REGULAR ICE. WE BOUGHT A TUB OF ICE CREAM AND MORE THAN ONE DAY OF SCHOOL LUNCH STUFF AT A TIME. BOTTOM LINE IT WORKS. THANKS TO EVERYONES POST AND TO PARTSELECT FOR THE VIDEO. I HOPE THAT I NEVER HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN THOUGH.

freezer fan failing; veried speed making whirling sounds

First, I removed all the shelves and the light guard. Second, I removed the nuts that held the fan guard and the freezer back in place (2 just under the fan guard and removed the freezer back. Third, lifted fan guard out of way (being very careful not to crack it..... cold plastic). Fourth, unpugged fan from pug then removed nuts that held fan bracket in place...removed fan. fifth, then removed fan blade and remove fan motor from bracket, removed two wires that went to freezer light (pay attention to where they go) and installed them into the new wireing harness. Sixth, installed fan blade on new motor, bolted new assembly in fan bracket, plugged in and reistalled fan into the freezer, replaced fan guard and freezer back (reverse order of above) and then replaced freezer racks. works beautiful.

Ice Maker auger blade broken

The ice machine auger blade broke a chunk off. I decided to try to replace it myself. I bought the new auger blade and then sat there and stared at it and the ice machine for a few, trying to figure out how to change out the part. Turns out it was a qute lengthy process. The auger is threaded on one end and the ice chopping blades are on it. So I had to take each blade off the old one and put it on the new one. The blades have to be positioned just right on the shaft so it's best to just draw a line down over all the blades so as to put them on the new auger successfully. The problem I had was the end cap that screwed on the end of the shaft. It was the part I ordered here. It is made of plastic with plastic threads and at first I couldn't figure out to get it off. Turns out the threads are opposite normal. By the time I figured that out, I had just about destroyed the cap using pliers to try to unscrew it. There is a washer and half moon clip that fastens on this end nut so if you mess the nut up, chances are you won't be able to get the half moon clip to go back on. I finally did it right and now how the ice maker working right again. A hard part for me was figuring out how to set the spring shaft that works a lever to either give cubed ice or crushed. I had to keep fiddle with it before I finally got that right. At first I was only getting crushed ice even with the cubed setting and then only getting cubed ice with the crushed ice setting. After some fiddling, I got both to work but to this day can't figure out what changes from the crushed setting to the cubed setting.

We ordered the basket with auger and all I had to do was take the old one out and slide the new one in. EASY !

Evap Fan was sqeeling

First I removed the shelf and light cover, then removed 3 screws from the ice make. Then I removed 6 screws from the moter cover (back wall of the freezer) and removed it. I then removed the 2 screw holding the moter. This is where the soldering iron comes in. The wire leads from the old motor were molded into a 3" rubber holder and the end wire plastic connector held 6 prongs (2 from a thermo tube). The new motor only held the 4 moter prongs, 2 were empty. To resolve this problem I cut the wires on both the new and old motor. I then attached the old connector to the new moter with the soldering iron and shrink tubing. Replaced all the parts I had removed and started it up. Works like a champ.....

ice crusher and dispenser stopped working

The motor shaft stripped and the drive auger spun in place instead of driving the auger to rotate. I had to purchase an entire motor even though the motor itself worked fine. The shaft being stripped had to be hacked off to get the motor out of the assembly. New motor installed, new drive auger installed. Works fine.

Watched video, however could not get outer casing off. Under the panel are three small holes, pushed up with an Allen key, used a small screwdriver to wedge out, came out easily, followed instructions from video on removing and replacing solenoid

This repair was very simple to do. I cannot say enough about part select dot com. I feel that I am a definite handy man yet the videos on the part select dot com site proved to be valuable. This video showed and reminded me that the plastic bushing holding the auger on was reverse threaded. Being a rightee tightee leftee loossee person embedded in my head I would have worn out that bushing holding the auger in place. I recommend not only purchasing from partselect.com YET please watch the video on this site prior to this installation. This made the installation not only simple yet informative. Thanks!

ice despenser door would stick open and frost up to the point of of ice not coming out

after finding the video describing the same problem, i gave it a shot. Major problem was figuring out how to take outside trim off of the ice/water dispenser. Everything i tried did not work like the videos i had seen. Looking thru some of the posted blogs i found another way to get behind the control panel without even taking off the trim piece. i pressed a 1/8th allen wrench into the two outer holes on the bottom of the control panel which released the panel to pull out from the bottom. after that it was simple to release the three plugs from the circuit board and remove the control panel. 4 phi lips screws later the ice chute comes straight out revealing the flapper door which is held in by 2 more screws. once that assembly is out the solenoid is held by three more screws. there was nothing difficult at all about this repair once the secret was out about the first step about the three holes (use only the outer two) in the bottom of the control panel

Ice buildup. The Ice Machine was frosting over. Ice (due to frosting) would block the drop chute.

Unfortunately, the replacement part didn't come with instructions. The repair, nevertheless, was fairly straightforward. After removing the plastic parts that guide the ice through the door (by removing a few screws that attach the parts to the inside of the door), I was able to slip my hand into the ice maker dispenser and remove the old part. The part clips on. It is a tight fit through the funnel (from the outside of the freezer), however, and requires that the gasket first be "flipped" open wherein it unfolds 180 degrees. Doing this will make it easier to clip the new gasket onto the assembly.
