failed light switch
I started removing the switch by prying on the right side with a screwdriver, when it emerged enough I used pliers to finish removing it. I then unpluged rhe wires from the bad switch and pluged them on the new switch and "poped" it into the hole.

Water dispenser stops working but ice maker was fine
First, I replaced my water filter but when it didn't work I googled the problem and the most advice I found was the double outlet water valve must be bad. SO I ordered the parts thru parts select. But when I installed the valve, the water dispenser still didn't working. I went back to parts select website and to see if somebody had the same problem. A gentlemen posted that if the water line is frozen, no water will come out. So I defrosted my refrigerator and turned it on again and it finally work. So now, I wasn't sure if the REAL problem I had was just frozen line or a bad valve. I decided to keep the water valve since my ref was almost 10yrs old. (But I still don't know why my water line froze.)

Icemaker leaking water
I had to defrost the freezer to free the icemaker. After that the installation was plug and play with two small exceptions: 1) I had to file down the width of the left hand tine of the old stripper so that it would fit the new icemaker, and 2) the motor housing of the new icemaker was slightly wider than the old one. It fit, but just barely. But I'm back in the ice again, no dripping water, all is good.

unusual noise
My refrigerator was making a high pitched kind of howling noise. The PartSelect symptom that was closest was “unusual noise” and when I clicked that it said the evaporator fan motor fixes the symptom 32% of the time. Since my freezer fan speed sounded like it was constantly changing I went ahead and bought one which PartSelect delivered promptly. The installation video was great and although my freezer was not identical to the one in the video, the video was still very helpful. The only thing it didn’t say was how to tell if my freezer motor was the one with the thermistor although I suspect that they all are and that PartSelect is simply trying to save us money by showing us how to splice in a motor without a thermistor. Anyway, since I would have had to disassemble the freezer before buying the part to find out for sure, I just bought the one without the thermistor. This just meant I had to splice the new motor in, just like in the video. I think I would have preferred buying the motor with the thermistor even though it was more expensive. In the end my problem is solved so I’m happy. This is the third time that I’ve had to repair this GE refrigerator and PartSelect has been a valuable resource each time.

Our daughter was here to help and she fixed the drawers...it worked out really well ...don't know how the owners could stand living with two broken drawers...people on phone that we dealt with were very hlepful. Thank you.

Ice Maker Made Ice but would not dispense
I emptied the ice maker and found the auger had broken. I got the model number, ordered the part (auger) and waited for it to get here. In about three days it arrived. I laid the bin on my workebench, removed screws and took auger out of bin. The assembly requires spreading of the plastic to allow retainer tabs (2) to release. Important**** the nylon nut holding the end on the auger is left hand thread. Assembly was the reverse.

No water, ice maker worked
The repair is easy enough, only problem I had was that I ordered the wrong part initially. Unfortunately, on the parts schematic there are two different parts listed and I didn't realize it. I did not look at my water valve prior to ordering, and naturally ordered the wrong one. One good thing, with the wrong part, there is a video showing the repair which I had watched. When I got the right part, the repair was basically the same as the video.

What a snap. I was so proud of myself, kept sliding the drawer in and out after the slide rail was installed. I thought I never would be able to fix it and I'm so glad ge had the piece that would fit into this older model refrigerator.

GE refer ice and water kept running
I researched the issue on line and replaced the microswitch. I didn't test the part since it was so inexpensive and the whole process only took me about 15 minutes to complete. I didn't know "where" the microswitch was located until I watched your video, a very helpful tool. Thanks PartSelect, the part arrived 3 days after I ordered it.Mike in Spokane, WA
