First and foremost, I usually call a real man to come do a job like this, but after reading the repair stories, I gave it a shot. Very, very easy. Pop of the bottom panel off (three torx screws), drain the water out of the tub (if any), and just follow the directions in the box. Anyone can do this one.

Secondary problem was bleach being siphoned from dispenser prematurely when drawer slid in. Replaced Drawer, Detergent Container and Bleach Siphon parts. Appears to have been a change in the siphon design when compared to the original factory part. 5 loads completed since replacement of these parts with no premature siphon of bleach or leakage down the front of the washer.

I had sears at my house twice to fix this problem.they told me it was a penny in the pump then when that didn't work they came back and said i was using to much soap which i wasn't.What they fail to tell you is that the high effiiciency washers use less water so they put a less powerful drain pump in so they get over worked and lose the ability to get the water out so buy a new pump and it will be like it's new again.

Removed three mounting screws to the front access panel, removed panel, cleaned out drain trap, attempted to reset and drain washer, pump did not operate. Removed one wire harness to pump, two hose clamps and slipped pump assembly out of its mounting grommets, and installed new pump in reverse order. A sinch! And saved me approximately $150.00 bucks in repair service fees.

leak suddenly developed

Somehow a bobby pin got into the drain pump housing. When it started to drain, the pin was rammed through the housing.Extremely easy to remove and replace. No special skills needed. Whirlpool did a good job in making it idiot proof. Unpacking the part took longer than installing it. Don't be afraid to do this repair. If you own a pair of pliers and a screwdriver, you can do it.

Removed three screws holding the cover, then one screw holding the pump assembly in place. After unplugging the power, it took two minutes to remove the clamp-rings from the hoses. The reverse was equally idiot-proof! But THIS "idiot" had 10-thumbs which added to the time to replace the lock rings! Added an extra 5 minutes at most! _grin_

Just removed the bottom cover to access the water pump. Drained the water through the filter housing. One screw and two hose clamps and the pump was out. Installed new pump and checked for leaks. None found so the cover was secured in plase. Great news, WIFE is happy.

It takes 2 people to do this repair. The bellow is the hardest part. One person has to hold the bellow in one spot, and the other person has to put it on the rim of the drum all the way around. Sort of like putting a tire on a bicycle. Dont do what I did and pry the door open. If you do that you will have to get a new door lock control at $54.Take off the lower front panel and reach up to the manual releace tab on the right side and pull down. Please make sure that the power is turned off, unplug the washer from the wall for your safety. The door switch itself is easy to replace, 3 screws, 3 plugs. Hope this helps.

Low water intake pressure error

  • Customer: John from Rye Brook NY
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Time to Complete: 15 - 30 mins
  • Tools Required: Pliers, Socket set

Serviceman had previously replaced the hot and cold inlet valves, but the low pressure error persisted. Rather than cough up another $130 for the serviceman to return, plus parts and time, I decided to order the replacement flowmeter from PartSelect.

Unplug power and turn off water. Top of machine comes off by removing three screws at top rear; use socket, spanner or T20 driver. Unplug electric sensor from flowmeter. Old unit is removed, and new one connected to water line by squeezing spring-clips with a pair of flat nose pliers. Reconnect electric sensor.

Great move, easy, and saved myself the thick end of $200.

following the procedure was easy except the alignment of the new valve was off by 1/4 inch and I had to drill an additional hole to reuse the screw for attachment. Piece of cake otherwise.
