ZIS48NCB General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

Unplug the refrigerator from electrical outlet.
Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator.
Pull the refrigerator out and disconnect the water line to the refrigerator; may want to have a small bucket in case water didn’t cut completely off.
(Where you disconnect the water line from the refrigerator is your water inlet valve.)
Take off the panel covering the water inlet valve.
Take off the water inlet valve from the refrigerator; should only be one mounting screw.
Unplug electrical connections from the valve noting where they were to reconnect them to same place on new valve.
Disconnect water lines one at a time and plug into new valve.
Plug electrical connections to new valve.
Remount new valve to refrigerator.
Reinstall panel covering valve.
Reinstall the water supply line to the refrigerator; if you have a copper water supply line you may have to cut the line and replace the nut and seal because it may not reseal and leak.
Open the water supply to the refrigerator and check for leaks at both the refrigerator and the water supply shutoff.
Plug refrigerator back into electrical outlet.

i watched the free video and then made the switch my ice screw had 4 bolts instead of three that was the only difference used the screw driver to loosen the straps on the connection plug and that was it easy as pie in about 30 minutes i heard it drop a load of ice it beats filling ice trays all the time thank you partselect for the free video it was the difference in my sucess

Defrost timer is hidden in the control panel in the refrigerator top middle. Turn to off and remove two screws which are hidden behind white tabs. I had to pry the old timer from the plug with a screw driver because it was tight. Try not to short across the terminals. Plug in the new timer. Replace it in the clip where you got old one and reinstall the controls. The freezer was still all frosted up so I had to remove the cover and defrost it with a hair dryer to get it to work. Then I turned it on and it works great.

unscrew one screw unplug.insert the ice maker,put the screw back in you have ice less than ten minutes

Ice maker was side mount instead of rear mount as shown in previous insructions. Removed one screw and slide ice maker forward. used flat head screw driver to undo the ice maker plug. The ice maker came right out. Removed old ice maker fill cup and put it on the new ice maker. Slide the new ice maker into place and used the same screw to secure it. Pluged it in and turned on the ice maker. Had new ice in a couple of hours. It comes with a round plug to square plug adapter, new fill cup and fill tube, all of which I didn't use.

Only needed to remove one screw, slide unit out and disconnect the power cord. Theb reverse the above operation to install the replace ice maker unit. Quick and extremely easy....

Just as your video described, although due to the age of the fridge, it took a bit longer to remove the defective switch. Your video made this so simple, I can't imagine why we lived with a dark fridge for so long! I was ready to buy a whole new fridge, as repairmen are often nonexistent for small repairs. I am the biggest fan of your company & it's repair video. THANK YOU SO MUCH

Removed the rear cover, with nut driver to expose the inlet valve assembly turned of water supply and removed water input line using and adjustable wrench, using a nut driver removed the bracket holding the valve assembly in place. There are two valve assemblies and the outermost one is the inlet assy. the two assemblies are connected together by two brackets one each side of the assemblies remove the two Phillips screws on each side of the inlet valve assembly and remove the two tubes by pushing inwards and twisting anticlockwise at the same time then pull them out. having done this you can remove the power source to the valve assy. easily. Install the new valve assy. in the reverse order to the above when reconnecting the input water supply you must use the white PTFE tape around the threads of the water input connection to avoid any leaks turn the water supply back on then check for leaks and replace the rear cover. This repair was easy and took about 45 minutes start to finish.

I am more than 80 yrs, always thought I could fix just about everything--but, this looked complicated. Once I received the new icemaker; took a good look where the screw-holes, etc. were, then removed the "old" one. Took about 20 or 30 minutes, then the "new" one was easily installed.

Checked the defroster coil which is located behind the rear panel in the freezer compartment, it was still working. Followed the schematics down to the defrost timer, which is located in the lower front of the refrigerator and tried that. Plugged in the new part and the problem is solved.
