We broke the little nob that the snack drawer cover attaches to
It was pretty simple to pull out the snack drawer, remove the glass shelf and the front and back supports for the glass shelf. Then we removed the screws just for the end cap and pulled it out. We then had to remove the slide adjustment for the adjustable temperature control and positioned it onto the new Endcap. We then removed the metal slide that the drawer connects to and put it on the new endcap. Then we put the end camp back into the fridge and put all the screws back and put the refrigerator back together.

Take your time and pay attention to how you are taking things apart and you will easily be able to put things back together again.

The poorly designed plastic pin on the endcap broke
I took the three screws out on the side panel after removing the drawers. The end cap pulls to the side and forward. I swaped the lever from the old cap to the new and re-installed the piece. It couldn't be easier. 5 min.

Replace Encap To Operate Self Oening Lid
The unit is 14 months old. Our last unit was 10 years old and what a difference in quality (thickness of plastic parts) with the new unit. This part should not have broke with respect to age and two older (50-55 year old) users. This site was great, withour it I would not have attempted the repair. To see illustrations to help with each step save me I would bet at least a hundred dollars if not more. Simple tool and this site made this a very easy repair. I listed 30-60 minutes, that time also included removing each piece and cleaning before reinstalling. Everything seems to be made so flimsy (sp) this is maytag's ice2o. We paid over $2300. 00 For the unit. Iy works great and keeps food so much better than our previous ge profile fridge. But the ge was built so much more heavy duty than this ice2o. Really sad that it had to be repaired so early in it's life. The ge was repaired the first time after ten years of use, and only a door part, a cam that helps to close it with just a touch. Thanks to everyone who supports and adds to this site, it gave me just enough of an edge (the economy also helped!!!!) to get me to not only try it but also do it! Again many thanks and to everyone who wants or needs to do it yourself. Just do it!

i am a retired gas company appliance and heating
repairman, but i think most home owners that are a
little bit handy could do it. The only problem was that my
wife said that while I had it all apart I might as well
clean the whole refrigerator!

The plastic knob that held the deli tray lid broke off of the endcap.
Actually my 17 year old daughter repaired the refrigerator. She removed all of the drawers, unscrewed the 2 screws that held the endcap in place, put the new endcap in place with screws and replaced the drawers. Very easy.

I broke the endcap peg holding the cover on the deli tray
I removed the produce drawers and glass shelf below them. Then I removed the deli drawer and took the runner off the endcap. Then I removed the endcap and replaced it with the new one and put everything back together. I did this simple job while my husband relaxed in front of the television.

Left endcap, the tab that the large flip-up door attached to had broken off
Removed both crispers, the large glass shelf, the two glass shelf holders and the large Chef's Pantry drawer. Removed the two screws, with a 1/4 inch nutdriver, that held the drawer slide. Removed the two screws (1/4 inch) that held the endcap. Replaced the broken endcap with the new one and reversed the order to re-assemble. Really easy repair that needed only one tool - a 1/4 inch nutdriver.

The hinge pin had broken
After receiving the replacement part, I took out the crisper drawers and glass shelf. TakI unsrewed two bolts using a socket set. It was literally longer to grab the socket set in the basement or take out the drawers than it was to remove the broken part. The new piece went in as easily as the old came out.

Fortunately, there was very little cleaning and the job was done before my wife even noticed I was working on it.

pantry lid end cap "hinge tab" broken off
After removing the crisper and meat drawers, then the glass shelf, removal of the broken end cap was fairly simple and straight forward. I removed 2 hex headed screws with a nut driver. Next I removed the temp control linkage from the old end cap, reinstalled it onto the new end cap and remounted to the refrigerator and that was that. The most impressive part was how rediculously fast the shipping was for the part itself!! I ordered on a Thursday evening and it was on my porch Saturday morning!
