LEA50AW (PLEA50AW) Amana Dryer - Instructions

My dryer was making some awful noises. First thought was the belt. Eventually isolated it to the wheel on the idler lever. I had the driver taken apart and could cause the noise by turning the wheel by hand. I decided to replace the support rollers and drum glides at the same time. I highly recommend watching the installation video. I can't tell you how much it helped to see the repair done. Especially the magic incantation on how to open up the dryer to make the repair. For me the most difficult part was getting the new belt on during re-assembly. There is very little room to work underneath the drum to connect the belt to the idler pully and motor. I was successful in connecting those first and then working it around the drum second.

Pretty much followed the instructions on the video on the website, very helpful! My model takes 2 rollers, and 2the glides, it wasn't obvious when I ordered the parts that I needed 2 of them. However I installed 1 new roller and 1 new Glide as well as the new belt and the tensioner pulley. Definitely take time to clean out the inside of the dryer it will be very dirty if you have never cleaned it before. Also remember to grease any new rollers. dryer was quiet and ran perfectly after this install.

Removed panels and kept screws together. Removed Multi-Rib Belt and carefully lifted tumbler out. This exposed idler pulley wheel and drum support roller. Removed and replaced New Idler pulley wheel and New drum support roller. Carefully inserted Tumbler and installed New Multi Rib Belt. Manually turned tumbler a couple of times to confirm tension. Pluged in for test and wallop! Purrrs like a kitten.

Replaced the limit thermostat and the high limit thermal fuse. Followed the YouTube video. For easy installation. I will come back to PartSelect for future needs!

I removed the toe panel,removed bottom screws from front main panel,removed vent housing,removed main front[outer],removed the screws from top[each side,front],raise top up[hook string to coner of top and tieded it up],removed front panel[4 screws]"front of tub runs on",undo old belt from iddler pulley,removed drum and old belt,removed 2 screws that holds motor assy and removed motor assy,replaced old iddler and pulley,relaced drum glides with new ones,replace tub rollers.Reinstall motor assy, tub, belt, fronts,ck out sound like a new dryer. While I was fixing the iddler pulley I replace all main parts,never was change sence new. Sence I was a retired tec from SEARS and age 74 it was tiring for me,wouldn't been if I was younger.....

i took the front off the dryer took belt loose took the tub out the plastic nut on the blower wheel striped out so i took the blower housing apart along with the motor got vise grips on blower wheel replaced motor blower wheel belt and belt tenchinor and spring cleaned all the lint put it back together works fine

Went on line and read it was the Heating Element and maybe the thermostat. It was easy to remove the parts and order new ones. I didn't take the dryer apart, I reinstalled the new parts from the bottom by taking off the face plate. The only problem was getting the screw to stay on the socket it was a one hand operation. I taped the screw to the socket wrench and it work fine. Nothing really hard.

noticed that male half was in good working order, so I just snapped in the new female half; without any tools. easy repair!

Ordered new lint filter from part select; paid for it with credit card on line; waited for delivery in one week; received by ups; unboxed; cleaned filter trap area with vacume; and dropped in new filter.

took off the front panal then took off the bulk head got the drum out and the changed the idler lever put drum back in put on new belt put everthing back together and was done that easy dont forget to un plug the cord

I openned the dryer and look for the problems. I found out the idle pulley was severly damaged. the driving belt was still ok however a piced of the belt backing was erroded. i found Part Select website and contact. The website is owsome! realy easy to follow and get youn to your needed parts. Customer service and the sales people are great. Also the video on the website is great and very easy to follow, they teach you how to install the parts. I had a very good experience with Part Select company. Thanks!

Hi Folks - just wanted to thank Parts Select. I am a DIY guy but have my limitations and have never tackled a dryer before. What really helped was that Parts Select showed up easily when I put in my Dryer brand and model number into a Google search. Then their website showed me common problems. But the best part was the video and the "video guy" who showed me how easy the problem was to correct. To be honest, I wasn't sure if the parts ordered would fix the problem, but when weighing $36 in replacement parts vs. $500 for a new dryer, I took the plunge. The parts were exact fits for the worn parts. They went in easily. And when I finished, I was really happy that the dryer is running like new... I don't ususally do surveys but I really thought Parts Select was top notch !

First thing I had to do was get the dryer into the garage, I needed some room to work. Then I removed the top and let it rest on the side so I didn't have to disconnect any wiring. Then I removed the door switch. Then I removed the front of the dryer. The belt came off easily by just wiggling it towards the back of the drum, then the drum came right out, towards the front. I used the snap ring pliers to remove the drum rollers and installed the new ones. I used regular pliers to remove the tensioner spring and and wrench and socket ratchet to remove the tensioner. Getting the spring on the new tensioner was the hardest part. I replaced the drum with the belt already around it then laid down to route it around the tensioner. You can rotate the drum by hand to make sure any strange noises are gone. If so simply replace everything after a good lint cleaning session, lint can cause fire, and you're good to go. Really easy stuff.
