Replaced the drive coupling on a household blender
I followed the instructions. It was easy. Loosened the old coupling with a screwdriver; unscrewed it and screwed on the new one.

Broken Drive Coupling
I found that the Repair video was of no help whatsoever. Apparently the type of Drive Coupling being replaced by the repairman in the video was had a plastic inner piece. Since his was plastic, the threads were as well. Mine had a metal inner part. It wouldn't have come off had I used his method. Not only that but forcing it might have damaged the shaft which would have required replacing it as well. Since that method wouldn't have worked I used the same method suggested by another poster. I used a thin bladed screw driver placed through the bottom to hold the shaft rigid. With a set of adjustable Pliers I turned the remaining part of the Drive Coupling clockwise at which point it easily came off. I think it would be wise to revise your video to take into account the fact that there are metal as well as plastic Drive Coupling bases. It might help prevent further damage being done to customers blenders.

The previous drive coupling melted while making daiquiris.
Well we didn't expect FedEx to toss the part on the porch and never knew it was there. My husband used a screwdriver and locked the motor in place to unscrew the old coupling. It has reverse threads so you need to take it off by turning to the left to loosen it. He attached the new one hand tight and then it would tighten any more if it needed as you operate the blender. We celebrated by testing it out for more daiquiris!! Thanks for fast shipping and having other repair stories helped us replace it fast.

Broken drive coupler on my KitchenAid blender
Initially, I tried to remove the broken drive coupler by holding the shaft with needle-nosed pliers and rotating the coupler counterclockwise (left = loose). After several unsuccessful attempts, I read some repair reviews and watched the repair video. I did exaclty what the video showed and repaired the blender in less than 15 minutes. Used a flat head screwdriver to gently lift the drive coupler, and rotated clockwise a little. Lifted and rotated repeatedly until coupler was unscrewed. Simply screwed on the new drive coupler by turning counterclockwise, and hand tightened.

Broken top on drive coupling
So simple even I could do it!I am not known for my mechanical prowess, but this was very easy. The coupling unscrews from the top of the unit and just screws back on. And, it was way less expensive than replacing the whole unit. So glad I found the website to order the part.

Melted Drive Coupling
The video that I saw, the person used a screwdrive to pry up Drive Coupling; that did not work for us, because I got a tip online that you need to use a 9/32 ignition wrench, ground down so that it would fit under the drive coupling, to hold the shaft from turning, as you unscrew (ccw) the coupling. Took some time to gring it down, once done, was able to complete the repair no problem. Piece of cake.

Drive couple needed to be replaced
I read the instructions by consumers and experts, along with watching the video. Initially, I figured that using a wrench would be the easiest; however, I didn't have a wrench that would fit between the coupling and the body. Then I used the technique demonstrated in the video and it only took a few minutes to replace the part.

The plastic coupling gear teeth broke when the motor was turned 'On' to initiate use of the blender in the 'Stir' mode.
I initially thought I would have to throw the entire appliance away because I had no idea as to how to get the broken coupling off the blender. I thought that the internet might have an answer, so I enterred the words: "KitchenAid Blender Parts". I got to the brand website and by entering the model number and further searching I was taken to the appropriate page. To my surprise, there was a 90 seconds video discribing how to remove the broken coupling, as well as having the new coupling available to order. It arrived at my home the very next day from UPS. I removed the broken coupling by just prying it out with a straight-edge screwdriver as directed in the video. I hade to remove a few pieces of metal that were stripped off the screw portion of the old coupling as it was pryed off the drive. I put the new coupling on the drive and only turned it to finger-tight. The reverse screw direction ensures the coupling is always turning to the tightening direction when the blender is working. The entire operation took only a couple of minutes after receiving the coupling. The website video was a super plus by having easy directions on how to change parts.

the drive coupling wore out and had shattered thought the wole blender would have to be junked..happy to know it was repairable and fairly easy to replaced!!
Need a small wrench to hold the base of the coupling while unscrewing the plate of the coupling and used the flat screw drive to help pry the plate from the screw type piece. The video available on the part replacement web site was most helpful and gave me the confidence I could do it myself
