Watched the video and worked next to the laptop to pause it at every step. Ordered a new plastic locking nut with the auger. Good thing, because the old one cracked when the e-ring was pried off. Put the new auger in and returned the bucket to the freezer. Changed the water filter. Like magic the water dispenser worked again! Made sure the spring-arm moved after cubes were in the bucket. It was stiff. Popped it a few times to make sure the lever worked OK. After the bucket filled checked both ice functions. Cubes dropped right away, crusher worked after a couple tries. Releasing the plastic tabs was the hardest part. WATCH THE ENTIRE VIDEO, THEN FOLLOW THE STEPS IN ORDER. The ice and water are flowing again! Many thanks for a great how-to video!

A piece of cake to replace. The most time was spent cleaning the ice out of the tray and drying it before I could begin to replace the part. This is an easy repair for someone with a little mechanical apptitude.

Ice Maker Auger Blade broken

Replaced the broken auger. I followed the instructions post on the Partselect.com webpage for the replacement auger. The most difficult part was removing the ice crusher housing becuase I was afraid of breaking the housing while prying the tabs away from the side of the ice bucket. Otgherwise it was a 10 minute job. Thanks PartSelect.

The plastic blades on the auger were broke

  • Customer: Debi from Texarkana TX
  • Difficulty: A Bit Difficult
  • Time to Complete: 30 - 60 mins
  • Tools Required: Screw drivers, Wrench(Adjustable)

I watched the video online that related to the parts that I needed to repair. I used a putty knife to insert between the sides of the housing unit to be able to remove it. That was probably the most difficult step. The auger came right out and I was able to replace it with the new one. Of course, reassembly was much easier.

The last coil on the end of my auger had broke off and the ice tray would not feed ice out of the box.

The ice maker tray was removed and the e-clip was removed from the end of the auger shaft,I then released the snap clip retainers and removed al the screws to romove the end of the Ice crusher section on the box.(It is a good idea to run this whole unit under hot water as the plastic could crack if to much force is applied during dissasembly. Plastic can be brittle when very cold). The shaft (auger)was extracted and the plastic retainer nut removed with a channel lock plier. Careful as it has a left hand thread. I was then able to remove the crusher blades and bushings from the end of the auger shaft and reassembled the parts on the new shaft. Refer to the parts catolog blowup view page on the website for proper installation of these parts if you get them mixed up. It is of great help. I then reassembled the auger back into the box and reassembled the other parts and screws to finish assembly. Popped it back into the frezzer and it works perfect. Tools required were nothing more than a thick kitchen towel to hold the Auger down and a flathead screwdriver for the e-clip retainer. A channel lock plier to take of the end nut as it has no flats for a wrench and a phillips screw driver for a couple of screws. Total time was about 20 minutes. I probably saved about $100.00 in doing this myself. Thanks again to PartSelect for getting my paet to me in a couple days.

REPAIR IS FAIRLY SIMPLE YOU DO NEED TO KNOW THAT NUT AT END OF AUGER IS LEFT HAND THREAD AND ICE CRUSHER ASSEMBLY ONLY GOES TOGETHER ONE WAY. SO PAY ATTENTION SURING DISASSEMBLY

  • Customer: T. J. from Temple TX
  • Difficulty: A Bit Difficult
  • Time to Complete: 30 - 60 mins

Used the video instructions. The hardest part, as described by others, was releasing the two plastic tabs on the white cover. I had to call on my wife for help, since it was nearly impossible to juggle two screwdrivers and the cover. The caution about the reverse thread on the nut was very helpful. It would be nice if the plastic blades on the auger were metal. Thanks for the fast delivery of the part. Ted
