Frost on back panel; freezer not cold
Ladies, you can do it!
I had the same frost buildup problem 3 years ago and had a GE technician repaired it. It cost me a grand total of $288 (parts $58)!! He mentioned the heater part tends to have problems. When the frost started to build up on the freezer, I dreaded for MONTHS for the prospect of $300 repair every few years, until the freezer gave up cooling, and I had to do something. How fortunate I found this website and their repair video! Here is what I did:
1. Find the model number and Order the parts (arrived the next day with regular shipping!!!)
2. Watch the repair video (again) and read instructions
3. Prep the refrigerator: Clean out the freezer (food and shelves) ; UNPLUG the power cord
4. Defrost: Put a bath mat on the floor in front of freezer; Use spatula to scrap off the thick frost on the back panel and into a bowl; Pour hot water on the remaining frost on the panel; COVER the drain hole with paper towel; Remove screws using screw driver and nutdriver; Remove back panel – at this point, I saw one Big ICE MESS behind the panel!!
5. De-icing: Remove paper towel over the drain hole; Use hair dryer on High to de-ice (this part took a long time due to the extent of icing)
6. Remove the old heater and replace with the new one according to the instructions
7. Reinstall the back panel and shelves; Plug in power. DONE!

My refrigerator suddenly stopped dispensing ice and water
I did an internet search on the issue, which was that my refrigerator suddenly stopped dispensing ice and water through the door. Also, the refrigerator had been cycling on and off constantly for some time. I found a YouTube video showing how to replace the main control board; along with a link to order the new part. I ordered the part and selected standard shipping. My part arrived in 48 hours. I replaced the main control board just like in the video. My refrigerator works like new now. I was able to solve my problem in two days on my own, for the cost of parts only. I am sold on PartSelect.com.

my ice maker quit working
I watched the video from the link that was sent to me with the shipping notice. It was very easy to understand. I had no trouble at all. I'm 75 years old woman, however, and I can fix about anything. Don't be afraid to fix appliances yourself if you feel you have the knowledge.

Ice maker not functioning and Tube assembly was to short
The video explained everything step by step. Repair was easy and only took less than 10 minutes. The ice maker didn't work until several hours later. I would imagine it would have to freeze the ice first. By the next morning it was making ice. Thank you for sharing the video.

Flapper Door was not opening wide enough to allow ice to flow down the chute. The flapper door was staying open with ice jammed in it.
Contrary to the visual instructions I could not remove the frame around the control opening nor did it turn out need to be removed. The control panel was easily removeable with a small screw driver inserted in the two outer holes at the bottom. Once this was removed I removed the four screws removing the panel with the chute and giving access to the solenoid. The three screws holding the solenoid were rusty and I applied some liquid wrench on each to help with the removal while I cleaned around the area. The solenoid was easily removed but the screws needed replacement which I obtained at my local hardware. Once the solenoid was attached again I replaced the other parts as they were removed and the flapper door is now working as it should. It took all of about 15 minutes for the repair but two days to figure out I did not have to remove the opening frame. Somewhere in the "Repair Film" it should be mentioned that for some Models removal of the "Opening Frame" may not be necessary just proceed to removing the Control Panel.

Cracked ice auger/no water dispensed
Watched the video and worked next to the laptop to pause it at every step. Ordered a new plastic locking nut with the auger. Good thing, because the old one cracked when the e-ring was pried off. Put the new auger in and returned the bucket to the freezer. Changed the water filter. Like magic the water dispenser worked again! Made sure the spring-arm moved after cubes were in the bucket. It was stiff. Popped it a few times to make sure the lever worked OK. After the bucket filled checked both ice functions. Cubes dropped right away, crusher worked after a couple tries. Releasing the plastic tabs was the hardest part. WATCH THE ENTIRE VIDEO, THEN FOLLOW THE STEPS IN ORDER. The ice and water are flowing again! Many thanks for a great how-to video!

Dispenser Crusher Cover was broken
I pretty much followed the video. Most of it was a no-brainer, but when I got to the part of pushing in the plastic clips to get to the area that I needed to replace, the video came in handy to reassure me that I wouldn't break them. It also gave hints, i.e. to let the ice maker tray sit at room temperature before you start. I was totally pleased with the ordering, & then being able to replace the broken piece myself. As a female, I enjoy trying to fix things myself.
