I noticed that the vent grille at the top of my GE microwave wasn't attached properly. I discovered that the plastic around one of the screws holding in on was broken. I needed to be replaced. Through research, Partselect had the cheapest price for the part.
Removed the broken grille by removing the screws. Installed the new grille.

Turntable would not turn
Contacted GE, told me the part that you supplied for $4.00 would cost me $36.00 plus shipping from GE. I just removed the old turntable coupler by prying up with a screw driver and slipped the new one on. GE also told me the motor that drives the coupler was probably broken and would need to buy a new microwave. The microwave works like a charm. Thanks for your quick delivery.

If the door was opened before the set time was up (for example 3 min.), the system would "lock." Pushing any control buttons did nothing. The only way to "fix" the problem, was to unplug the unit and reset the timer, date, etc. The unit would only run correctly if you set the time, for example 1
I used the first installation instructions from the web and found it very helpful. However, I would edit it to include "unplug power cord to the microwave" although obvious, I removed the control panel cover and only when I saw all the wires did it dawn on me to unplug the unit. I followed the instructions, removed the unit with out problem. However, when I tried to remove the flat tape like wire connection (from the housing to the control panel) I had problems. I pulled on the flat connection tape and could not get it to disengage with the connector. After studying the connection I realized it had a plastic clip like housing which secured the flat wire tape to the female connector. In trying to "unclip" the plastic housing / fitting it broke. I proceeded with replacing the control panel, also cleaned the housing on the inside and realized the "window" of the display had a dirty film on it which I wiped off. The result was a much brighter display when the job was completed. Relative to the problematic wire tape connection, I inserted the tape into the connector which had a good friction fit, I inserted the top portion of the broken plastic retainer (the connecting ends had broken off). Although not perfect, the wire tape was secured. I reassembled the control panel, plugged in the power, reprogramed the date, time, etc. Final outcome it worked like new. I would say I spent as much time cleaning the inside of the microwave (behind the control panel), the panel housing as I did disassemble and reassemble the control panel. If I had no problems with the wire tape connection and did not do the cleaning, it would have taken approx. 10 min.

Turntable not turning/making noise
Disconnected the power at the circuit breaker. Removed the six phillips head screws on the underside of the microwave base. Unplugged the drive motor. Removed two phillips head screws holding motor in place. Put all the screws aside keeping the motor screws separate so they would not get confused with the cover screws, they are slightly differenet sizes. To put the new motor in I needed to rotate the triangle plate drive inside the microwave main compartment until the motor could seat in place. Seccured the motor with the screws. Put base back in place and secured with screws. Turned power back on and tested turntable by turning on microwave.

Microwave wouldnt heat but power made loud hum
Had to take the MW off the wall, remove the cover, and find the magnetron. Issue was the HV-capacitor. Had to remove the diode and capacitor to discharge the capacitor safely. Crackle-Bang! Then put it back before toying with the HV-transformer in order to get the magnetron out. Took a little under two hours to get it back on the wall and a lot of cajones when monkeying around the chassis removing the capacitor. Not a job for most everyone as this was a potentially high-shock repair due to the voltage and micro-farads held in that capacitor. Hardest part was getting the magnetron to drop out past the HV-transformer. Also, the thermostat had to be removed from the magnetron and re attached to the new one. Fiddly delicate job, not for the clumsy or faint of heart.

The door handle broke off
The first step was to remove the bezel inside the door. It snapped off (but I did have to pry it off). This exposed two of the four door handle screws. I removed them and then started prying off the outside bezel until I could reach the other two screws just well enough to remove them. Installing the door was the reverse of the process. All told, it took less time to do this than to have installed a new microwave oven (or waited for somebody else to install it).

light bulb below the over burned out
Getting the old bulb out of the socket was not an easy job as the factory seals the base of the bulb to the socket and for what reason I do not know. The seal has to be broken away to remove the bulb. I broke the seal with a knife and then proceeded to unscrew the bulb. The bulb at that point shattered in my hand and I was left with just the base of the bulb stuck in the socket. it took much effort to be able to work loose the base with a needle nose pliers and much sweat. The installation however went very smooth and Part Select did a fine job of sending me the right part in a very short period of time. They are a great source for any appliance part needed.

Oven light bulb burned out
After discovering Parts Select website and reading the experiences and installation instructions of others with similar experiences, it gave me the confidence to give it a try. I order the parts, and in a few days, they arrived. I did the following, as read from others: 1. unscrewed the 5 screws on bottom panel of microwave. 2. Had wife hold panel while I unscrewed the 1 screw holding the lamp socket 3. Pulled lamp socket out of hole 4. Used needle nose pliers to pull wiring from old lamp socket 5. plugged the two wires into new lamp socket 6. removed old bulbs (which would have been a nightmare to do by just dropping down the bulb cover - bulb had been factored glued to lamp socket and even after I removed the glue, the bulb still broke when trying to remove the bulb - had to use needle nose pliers to unscrew the base of the broken bulb) 7. placed lamp socket with new bulb back into its slot and screwed the one screw holding the lamp socket back 8. screwed back in the 5 screws that held the bottom panel.

All power to the microwave went out.
PartSelect had helpful repair instructions on-line which made the repair easier and faster. Unfortunately, there were other problems with the oven that immediately blew the new fuse I had just installed. It was then determined that additional repair would most likely cost almost as much as a new microwave.
