bowl lift was broken
I removed the mixer from the stand and replaced the bowl lift arm by removing a cotter pin and reconnected the arm to the crank inserting the pin roll and tapping it into place with a small hammer. It took all of five minutes to complete.

Fast speed on every setting. No control of speeds.
I removed the cover off the back of the mixer. Carefully remove the cardboard gasket around the outside edge. Unlock the nuts that hold the two adjusting screws. Count the turns to remove each screw in order to keep the right adjustment. Pull the plate away enough to remove the control board. There is one long and one short wire that gets plugged into each side of the plate. Watch the location of each wire to make the right connection. Reattach the screws to the proper position. Then install the gasket and rear cover. Check for proper operation.

My kitchenaid stopped moving
My husband looked at youtube to figure out what the issue was. He saw a video that identified that the likely problem was the worm gear. My husband took the kitchenaid applicance apart, as he saw in the video. We ordered the part, it took less than a week to arrive. He rewatched the video that demonstrated how to put the kitchenaid mixer back together. It's a bit messy due to all the packing grease, but a pair of nitrile gloves, paper towels, and an old rag help. We put a garbage bag over the appliance after it was taken apart to protect it from any dust and my curious cat. We let the kitchenaid cycle for about a minute to make sure the gear was greased. I haven't used it to make bread yet, but I'll do that soon. Thanks for supplying the part that saved us at least one hundred dollars and TRY to get a person who will repair small appliances.

I took out the worm gear and replaced it with the new one. It is important to have the correct punches that are just under the diameter of the pins.

Paint flaking off beater; flakes got into food.
I used the website to find the appliance, but had to call the help number because the model number had one extra 'B'. I was told that this was only for the color (black). Using the chart I found the part number and ordered it. It arrived in about 3 days (regular shipping). No repair was needed beyond snapping the new part in to replace the old one.

The spring latch had broken.
All that was required was a screwdriver and about 5 minutes. I removed the broken latch and screwed in the new one. Good as new. I am not a mechanical genius, but this repair can be done by about 98% of people.

Broken worm gear
Knob fell out of the front of the mixer into the bowl and jammed the beater. This caused the motor to strip the plastic worm gear. Open unit to investigate and found about 4 teeth missing out of the worm gear. Ordered a replacement. Installed the new gear once received in about 30 minutes. Wife is now happy again. Just need to make sure you pack enough gease into the new gear before reassembling the unit.
