Removed the 2 bins, glass shelf, large drawer. Removed the 2 screws holding the right drawer slide. Removed the 2 screws holding the pantry end cap in place. Transfered all the parts from the old end cap to the new end cap and reinstalled the end cap. Replaced the slide, glass shelf and the drawers. Installed the large drawer cover (very carefully!) as this is what broke off last time. Total time start to finish about 30 minutes.

Had to completely remove the ice maker in order to install the replacement part

Sorry for delay in writing. Part I ordered arrived two days ago and it was exactly what I needed. Knowing that there will be problems even with the smallest job I procrastinated starting. When I did start this morning I foud I had to completely remove the ice maker and disassemble it in order to install the water fill cup bracket. The challenge was reassembling the unit. Not hard for an experienced repairman but a challenge for layman. Everything is thing is back to gether now and power on cooling down the refrigerator. Won't know how successful it was until turn on water and ice is formed. If it works this saved $75 just to get a Sears repairman to come out and tell me what would be needed to fix the refrigerator and $1,000 if I had to buy a new refrigerator. Extremely satisfied with service I received. Thank you.

I watched the on line you tube video on how to DIY. The putty knife worked to pop out the switch. I used the standar screwdriver to unplug the switch from the wire harness. Then plug in the new switch and pop it back in to the roof of the freezer. Tip: watch out when ordering the new switch - the freezer switch is different than the refrigerator switch. The freezer has three prongs. The fridge has two. I initially ordered the wrong part and added a week to the repair time and had to pay shipping to return the first switch.

Pried out the old switch with small screwdriver, popped in the new one and tah-dah!! ..the light came on. While I was at it, I cleaned out the freezer :). I cannot begin to imagine what a repairman would have charged for this.

Unplugged appliance. Using a small putty knife I moved the switch out far enough to grab it with pliers. Moved wiring to new switch and pushed into place after testing.

Pivot Block not operating french door hinge

  • Customer: James from Merced CA
  • Difficulty: Really easy
  • Time to Complete: Less than 15 mins
  • Tools Required: Nutdriver, Screw drivers

The pivot block looked slightly worn because the hinge door mechanism on the left door would not "close" when the door was opened. I bought the pivot block, but the fix is adjusting the dual french doors so they are even i n height at the top of the unit. Pivot block is a 2 minute job with screwdriver. Adjusting the height is a 5 minute job with nut driver.

Water feed was failing.

  • Customer: Richard from East Falmouth MA
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Time to Complete: 30 - 60 mins
  • Tools Required: Pliers, Wrench set

Replaced primary water valve. Once I ordered the part from Part Select, it arrived the next day. The repair consisted of removing the small panel where the feed lines enter the back of the refrigerator then removing the old valve. It is a small area, so access to the feed lines and electrical wires were a little difficult. Also removing the valve from this space also proved to be a challenge. The installation was very easy needing only attaching the water lines and electrical plus to the new unit. The water pressure is now great. I wish I had done this a long time ago.

  • Customer: Terence from Oakley MI

Pretty easy repair, the hardest part was probably putting the back back on. Once the back was off it was a matter of unplugging the Relay Overload and Run capacitor from the compressor. Taking the new parts snapped them together plugged it back into the compressor and plugged it in. The fan came on the fridge started working and everything is working fine. Parts came in on time and will definitely order again from Part Select again when I need to.
