washer will not spin or agitate, all other operations good
WATCH THE VIDEOS FIRST!!! I replaced the motor coupling and the agitator cam. I made it much harder than it had to be. My advice to any novice...watch the videos FIRST! I disconnected the drain and fill hoses then I took the back off of the washer only to find the motor in the front so I took off the cabinet. Then I took off the pump and the pump hoses (not needed). I released the motor and found the coupling. It was wasted, as suspect. I ordered parts. Then I took apart the agitator and discovered nasty old dogs. I ordered more parts. THEN, I discovered the videos and began to download them. I live way out in the country and my internet is about the speed of dial up so this is no easy feat. At this point I have washer parts all over my kitchen and new parts on the way (that is another whole story, FedEx has a hard time out here). After watching the videos I knew I had done WAY too much work but nevertheless I was determined to at least get the new parts on and all the pieces put back where they came from. I began putting the agitator together first and that was relatively easy except for the missing grease. The next day the coupling arrived and I was able to get it on (now that I knew to lay the machine down it was much easier to work on (instead of laying in the floor)! By Thursday night (I started this on Monday) I had everything reconnected and did a trial run. OH MY! Everything went well until the spin, then the noise started and the burning smell was not pleasant at all. I unplugged it and went back online the next morning to research this new experience. I found someone else who had made my mistake, you MUST force the couplings onto the shaft of the transmission and motor until it is flush with each shaft or you will get noise and burning odor. I took the cabinet off and re-worked the coupling, put it all back together (this time it really did only take about 1 1/2 - 2 hours). SUCCESS! My 20 year old machine works better than it has in the last 2 years. WATCH THE VIDEOS FIRST!!!

The washer wouldn't spin unless it got a little help in starting.
I completed the repair EXACTLY as shown in the YouTube video. I went Googling for some ideas when I came upon the PartSelect video which showed the repair being completed on the EXACT make and model of my unit. Screw Sears, which listed the repair as 'difficult'; it was easy! Nothing like seeing it done before attempting it. I am very pleased with both the product and the help!

Washer had new noise, grease and water underneath.
Friday night removed back, Electronic controls, and remaining cabinet. Inspected direct drive pump and it was damp. Removed part. Total Time 20 minutes to this point. Spent next 45 minutes on-line trying to order the correct part and get it as soon as possible. Paid for overnight delivery, but it showed up Monday. Installed part then re-assembled Washer in reverse order. Total Time 30 minutes. Tested the Washer. Noticed water was not filling. Turned valves back on. All worked well. Washer is used several times a day. It's now 2 weeks later and still running well. I'm very mechanically inclined and I have an electronics background so it seemed very easy to me. I think anyone could do this, but it may take more time to determine how to disassemble and reasseble by researching it on the internet.

The top of agitator was not moving
It was very easy. The instructions were very helpful. My husband had taken the agitator apart before we orded the repair kit and discovered that the clogs were worn. What would of been more helpful that when we ordered the kit that it could of told us the little bit of agitator grease was going to be needed. Instead it said it after we recieved the kit that we needed the grease.

Super Easy Fix
The fix was super easy. The parts were less then the shipping and had my parts one day ahead of the estimated time on the internet. It was a Bing Bang Boom project that saved the fiance and me a few bucks.

water leaking below the washer
Using the video I was able to remove the outer frame and found the water pump was leaking. Ordered a new part and using the video was able to replace without a problem. Machine works great, no leaks. My son and son-in-law said just replace the machine...well once I found the problem, was an easy fix. The hardest part was lining up the outer frame so the fitting was right. I'm 65 young and yes women you can do it!!

agitator was not spinning
well the replacement of the directional cogs was easy, once i was able to separate the the top and bottom half of the actual agitator. What i could not find out about my whirlpool gold was their was 4 plastic tabs that held the whole cog assembly onto the agitator. i could not pull it apart like all the videos were showing, until i took it to a repair shop and he showed me. After i used a hammer with a screwdriver to break the plastic tabs, it popped right apart. The actual repair only took about 30 min. once i was able to get the agitator apart.

agitator cogs were badly warn, no agitation when washing
Pulled off the fabric softner holder, pulled out the cover for the agitator. Used a socket set to loosen the screw that holds in the agitator hub, pulled out the hub, removed the gasket from the cogs and replaced new cogs. Works like new!!!!

It was the water pump
The most helpful hint was the video that I followed to a tee an if not I'd be treading in deep water. Very good but being a rookie it took me a hour an a half to complete, but it was my first voyage, of which should take 30 min if skilled a little bit. End results it works better than it has ever but always remember to keep track of all parts to replace it back in the right position. Thanks Again an I'll be back to see you if necessary for future reference!!!

Agitator Would Not Work
I could add absolutely nothing to the instructions given on your site. They were short, simple and easy to follow. I was so proud of just how well everything did go. We were looking at a three hundred dollar repair bill, which I did myself for about twenty bucks! To be perfectly honest, it was actually fun! Thank you so much for your site! Aerospace designer
