10688419100 Kenmore Dryer - Instructions

I looked at two or three repair stories on your site and followed the advice given there.

Three major things helped:

First, access to the innards by lifting the top AFTER RELEASING THE CLIPS AT THE FRONT USING A PUTTY KNIFE or similar - very helpful.

Second, instructions on removing the front panel and pulling out the drum were helpful

Third, a caution about checking and re-seating the rear drum seal using a putty knife or similar - I wouldn't have noticed that the seal was curled over in a couple of places without that warning - I'm sure it frequently gets bent over when replacing the drum.

PartSelect was very helpful and very quick in getting me the parts needed. I didn't realize I needed the idler pulley until after I received the belt I had ordered, but the pulley came so fast it really didn't matter - gave me time to clean out bags of lint - the worst part of the job.

Dryers are very simple, but hardy and enduring machines - enjoyed making a 30+(?) year old machine run like new.

Watched the online instruction directions. Disconnected the machine from the power source, remove the back panel, located the thermal fuse, removed the two wires and the old fuse. Installed the new fuse and attached the wiring. Replaced the back. Plugged in the machine. This same repair was made by a service company two months earlier at a cost of $154.13 I made the repair for under $18 and 15 minutes of my time. Very simple project - I would highly recommend PartSelect

Fantastic site and service !!! Using your site, I i'd my needed part in about 10 minutes. I received my Whirlpool dryer door latch part from you in less than 12 hours. Per your internet site instructions, I replaced the part in a few seconds (just popped it into the slot) and my wife had a working dryer for her Sunday wash. I would have been out $55 and 4 to 7 days waiting for a service call if I had used my home warranty service contractor. Using your service, the part(s) and shipping were just over $12.

Snapped latch into existing hole in 2 seconds. The pin that goes into latch was still intact. That's it ,real simple. The only problem I will hopefully not have in the future is the the mico-switch which is just hanging in there, the switch works but the lever that extends out from the face, that works with the door is partially broken off and the switch is no longer available on your parts list. The appliance is twenty-one years old. I am very happy with your service and I received the parts the next day, after I ordered them and I will be buying more parts in the months to come. This time it will be for my Kenmore gas stove and then a Kenmore refrigerator door hinge.

I am a retired applaince repairman not recommended for amature to repair this model.

I took the back off and found the fuse, It was very easy to do .Got on the internet and ordered a new one . It came in 5 days . Thank you. H wandersee

I had originally thought it was the on/off switch but after I changed that out, it still would not start. So, figured it was a fuse, so took the back off the dryer, found the thermal fuse, removed it, ordered new one from partselect.com, had it in 3 dys. Hooked the wires to the fuse,(really need to note which one goes where) attached fuse to the metal, screwed the back to the dryer back on and presto! hit the start button and we were back in business! Of course, it's always a good idea to clean out your dryer so I cleaned all the lint out while the back was off. This was SUPER easy and fully appreciate this website. Could have cost me $85 flat just to have tech come look @ the dryer! Thank you very much!

I removed the back panel with a 1/4" nut driver and
replaced the thermal fuse in the same manner since it was held in by another 1/4" sheet metal screw attached to the internal vent.The fuse is easy since you just pull the wires with minature plugs off and replace in the same way. I then replaced the back panel, plugged the unit back in and Presto! I had a working gas dryer again.
One piece of advice, check the thermal fuse first
if you have no heat. That because it is the easist part to repair and most likely the culprit. One more thing is to keep the lint filter clean at all times! That might prevent this type of failure from ever happening.

Man,I thought you'd never ask!!!! I've been bragging about your site since I fixed my own dryer. I was so happy to find the part, but absolutely thrilled to have a video too on how to install it step by step. And the repairman on the video was safety conscious too and made it simple. Naturally, I was super happy with the cost of the part ($10.43) and the S&H was faster than expected! It would have cost me $99.00 just for a service man to come to my house and then charge me the parts and labor on top of that - who knows? I was thinking about just buying a new dryer when repairs start to cost over $100...you wonder. I fixed it within 30 minutes, and the extra time was only because I had to vacuum behind my dryer. I only vacuum behind the dryer every 10 years whether it needs it or not! (just kidding!) Thank you so much for existing - I will ALWAYS come here to see how I can repair things within my abilities. I told my dad that I fixed my own dryer and he said, "I'm proud of you!" He fixes everything and I watched him for years about the house fixing stuff. I'm my father's DAUGHTER!

Reviewed video on how to disassemble appliance by removing drum. Removed both rollers, replaced both rollers, installed drum with new belt, test ran it w/o gas attached, so quiet a baby can sleep beside it.

Drum support roller bearrings went out. Had to replace drum support rollers! It's like a new dryer now!!

put fuse back in

Used repair video as guideline, I did not have their lab conditions to work in and by no means a clean machine. Also I had a two part front panel vs. single as in video, so disassembly and reassembly were OJT."on job training". Video was however very usefull in locating problem, getting correct part and accomplishing the repair. Saved $$ and machine is now working properly again. Am saving this web-site to my favorites list.
