I pulled down the wire around the glass cover. . . Released on end of the wire from its holder being careful to not let the glass cover drop. Unscrewed the bulb and replaced with replacement. Easy, easy.
I removed the door (three screws on top). Flipped the door upside down, removed the cams, and replaced with the new ones and replaced the door. Now the door closes great. The only problem is that the door sort of "clunks" into place when I open or close it. I am not sure that I used the right cams. The drawing on the directions was not at all clear.
I am a single female so the hardest part was lifting the door off and then trying to get it back on the hinge. I used the same bolts that were on the door so putting the new parts on was the easiest part. The slowest part was finding the right socket for the bolts and unscrewing the originals. Beats hiring a repair man.
The parts were delivered promptly. I ordered the kit assembly because I didn't know which part was the problem. Reading the remarks from other people's symptoms and solutions made the process much easier. I replaced both the upper and lower cams. Lubricated the cams and reinstalled the door.. Problem solved!!!!
Empty the refrigerator door of all items and removable shleves. Reomve top hinge (three screwsa at top of exterior). Lift door off of bottom hinge pin. Lay door across table Remove top half of cam from door and replace with new cam half. Remove bottom half of cam from bottom door hinge pin. Lubricate both cam surfaces with small amount of silicone lubricant. Replace door on bottom hinge pin and replace top hinge. You may need help guiding teh door back onto the botttom hinge pin. Replace all door shelves. Done!
I watched the how-to video on your website first and it made the job so much easier. Just remove the upper hinge, lift the door off, and replace the cam bushings on the bottom hinge. Put it back together in reverse order and your done! Thanks for having such an informative website! It saved me from buying a new appliance.
Replaced the refrigerator and removed doors to put the old unit in the basement as an overflow fridge. Noticed the cams broken/worn/missing on bottom door hinges. Ordered parts. When parts arrived, installed them and fridge back in operation. Parts kit had screws with slightly different sized heads, and if you used the wrong ones to mount the cams, there would be a clearance problem. There were no instructions with the parts to explain this. There also were a couple of plastic parts in the kit that were not used - no explanation given.
