The door spring puts tension on the dishwasher door though the hinge. This keeps it from falling or dropping abruptly when opening and closing. Please note: The spring for either side of the door is sold individually. If you see that your dishwasher is leaking, the door will not close or open properly, or it gets stuck, then replacing the spring could be a solution to these symptoms. During installation, remember there is potential for the door spring to snap if it is under too much pressure. For safety precautions, make sure you unplug the dishwasher from the power source before beginning your project.

son used door for a step and bent as well as broke spring door component

first i removed the 2 holding screws fron the underside of the counter then oulled the dishwasher out about a foot. i then removed the side panel that hold the front plate in plase on the right, below this were the screws that held the door hinge assembly on the right. i then proceeded to remove those bolts. and replaced with the new one. replacing the spring and the linkage came next no tools required. i have to say that the diagram when i ordered helped emensly. i am a 45 yr old woman and fixed it by nyself thanks to your ordering diagrams. life is good!! Replaced strike plate...but may not have needed it ...He used a screw under the front of the strike plate as a wedge to increase tension...He said this has happened to this model before and an old tech told him about this fix...

Right Side Door Springs Broken

With the dishwasher door open remove the 3 srews connecting the top of the dishwasher to the bottom of the kitchen counter top. Remove the lower access panel from the dishwasher and lower the dishwasher about 1/4 inch in the front and back of the dishwasher). Once you have lowered the dishwasher enough slide the dishwasher out about 6 inches (enough to gain access to the door springs on the left and right side). Remove all broken spring parts and replace using new springs. The left side of the door contained a single heavy duty spring and the right side of the door contained a heavy duty and light duty 'helper' spring. I replaced only the right side springs since the left side spring was in excellent condition. When the springs are installed slide the dishwasher back into its original position and raise the dishwasher back up to its original height using the front and back adjustment screws. Replace the 3 screws holding the top of the dishwasher secure to the bottom of the countertop. Ensure that the door opens, closes and latches smoothly and then replace the lower access panel. Detergent cup failed to open

Originally the dishwasher started to leak. I determined that it was coming from the door and upon further inspection found that the latch for the detergent cup seal was bad. I replaced that and the leak stopped however the lid would not open to dispense the detergent. So I also replaced the wax motor to correct that as well. Read more...
