Washer knocking and walking on spin cycle

I followed the instructions on this site. The only difference was I discovered that the bottom hole for the springs actually has 2 holes. The rectangular long one is for the spring to be inserted into. The small hole is for the end of the spring to pop up through. Making sure you do this makes it easier to hook the spring into the top spot.

Washer walking across floor, from being off balance

1- unplug unit 2-disconnect water hoses 3-put unit in open area so you can work on it. 4-open top cover with screw driver 5-take off front cover with appropriate socket 6-lay unit on it back to get access to the drive belt (take off).and take off water hose with plyers.7-with vise grips take off the six springs.8-take tub assy out,and lay it on the floor upside down.9-loosen the screws to take out the old snubber ring, Note ( when lossening screws, keep your finger on the bottom of the screw ,so you can feel how far to back the screws out, just enough to have access to the snubber ring,to take out,and install new one.)REMEMBER NOT TO TAKE SCREWS OUT COMPLETELY.THE UNIT IS UNDER SPRING TENSION.10-put washer back together in reverse order, and problem solved!

Washer would dance all over basement when on spin.

After unplugging washing machine, I lifted the top to access two screws that held on front of machine. I removed the old springs with vise grips. I removed the two screws holding the motor to remove the drive belt then the drum could be lifted to replace the snubber. Drop the drum back down and tilt the machine back so the drive belt can be placed back on the drum, motor and water pump pulleys. Reinstall the motor screws. Install the new springs, this can be difficult, I used a board to stretch the springs. Put front back on and do your laundry.
