Removed the four face plate screws and set it aside. Then I removed the three screws holding the base plate to the wall mounting. Removed the wall plug and lifted the microwave out. I then removed all the screws holding the cover on the microwave and pulled the case to the rear This left the door latch accessible. Since the old latch had broken and fallen off, I just had to figure how the new one was to be installed This was very simple to figure out and it took me about five seconds to put the new one in.. Be careful when installing because all the parts are plastic and susceptible to breakage. I then reinstalled the microwave cover and after plugging it in ,pushed it into the wall cavity and put all the screws in to hold the oven in place. I next installed the face plate and every thing was in working order, A very simple project.

This plastic door latch bracket controls the door opening. Ours broke after 7 years of use. Probably just the plastic fracturing after years of use. Hardest part is finding the special driver to unscrew the housing around the microwave so that you can get to the control panel. Ask for something that looks like an allen wrench with a hole in the middle. I took a picture of the screw in the microwave and brought it to a big box store and asked for the correct driver. I have a feeling that a "real" hardware store (like Ace or TrueValue) may have been able to just direct me to the correct screw driver but I'm cheap so I though a big box store would be less expensive for a tool that I may never use again. Once you get the correct screw driver, opening the microwave is pretty easy. MAKE SURE THE MICROWAVE IS UNPLUGGED BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER. There are a number of these "special" screws (4 to 6) and some regular screws to remove. Once you pull the housing off the microwave look at the release latch inside (behind the release press plate). You should be able to jiggle it out especially since it is probably broken on one side. Be sure to find and remove all the broken pieces. Mine had just the main latch and a small piece that broke off. Pull it out and you are ready to put the new one in. It is a little difficult putting the new latch bracket in. Try inserting one side into the holder hole and very gently pressing the other side in. Be patient; with a little pressure it will snap in. Then you simply put the housing back on, put the screws in and every thing should work. $20 bucks for the part and a half hour of work (after you find that special screw driver) is much better than buying a new microwave. It literally took me longer to unpackage the fuse than to install it. I removed the outer shell by unscrewing the five screws, lifted it off and set it aside. The old fuse was readily visible so I pulled it out and put the new one in its place. I set the shell back on and replaced the screws. I plugged it in and ran it for 30 seconds while still in the shop just to make sure that solved the problem and presto - it worked like a charm. A $20 part saved me from having to purchase a new microwave (sadly, I had to break the news to the wife).

Replaced the diode (aka wire-vltge) in the HV circuit after removing cabinet cover using both the secure torx screw drvr & phillips head screw drvr. The hardest part of the job was finding the secure torx nut drvr tool on the internet & purchasing same.

I simply went on line to Part Select, placed my order, made payment, and was astonished to see the package with a new dish sitting on my doorstep the next day.Great service.

OMG! I wish everything in life were so easy.....The cooking tray of our 15 year old microwave cracked and I swore it'd be impossible to find a replacement. The tip on the end of the latch broke off, so I had to carefully pry it back in without breaking the new piece. Took a few tries, but got it.

All the electrics worked on Amana microwave EXCEPT for the cooking function. Inspected the control board and found the upper switch on the door interlock was burnt. Installed new switch in minutes and everything now works fine. Unfortunately, had to purchase expensive two switch "kit" although only one switch was kaput. PartsSelect mailing was SUPER fast. 1.ordered the part 2.during wait time for part,i epoxied the broken ear of the door latch bracket back on to the broken part.3.waited 24 hours for epoxy to set,4.installed the repaired part.5.reassembled the microwave and reinstalled in the wall unit.6.days passed and the ordered door latch bracket finally arrived.7.we are using the microwave daily with the repaired door latch bracket,but we will keep the new part in reserve,just in case!JUST CAN NOT DO WITHOUT OUR MICROWAVE!

My wife was pushing a few buttons with her knuckle (hands were full)and the microwave just turned off. Just like we had blown a breaker. First I unpluged it. Then I removed the phillips screws of the front panel, and found and removed the ceramic fuse. 3 days later I received the new fuse in the mail, and put it in. I plugged the microwave back in and it works great.

Took off the outside metal cover determined what the problem was immediately saw the broken latch ordered the new one received in 2 days snapped it into place the door opened then replaced the outside metal cover good as new.
