water leak
Got on the computer, located your site and read the repair stories.Thought, I can do this. Ordered the impeller and seal kit. I followed the same procedures as your other customers, however, when I turned it on for a test it still leaked. Went out looked for a new dishwasher, for $389.00. After talking to my wife,(been married over 60 years)decided to try one more time. Went through the same steps. Loosen the plastic ring remove The revolving spraying arm, tipped on the front to get to the bottom. mopped up the water, disconected water, electric, and hoses. Pulled the motor and pump unit, disassembled the pump unit, then I realized I had installed the rubber and plastic bearing backwards. The rubber to rubber wore out real fast. Ordered a new seal kit (no impeller) Put it all back together and it works just like it did 19 years ago. Total cost less than $60.00. It is a good feeling when your able to fix somthing like this, especially ehen your a fat 83 year old. I would like to meet the person that changed this in a half hour.

Old part was broken
I am a 64 year old female and replacing the broken Access Panel was fairly easy for me to do without help. The hardest part was separating the metal bottom part from the broken plastic part in the old access panel. I had to break the plastic away from the metal section using pliars. That took me almost 10 minutes. Slip the decorative plastic facing out of the old piece and into the new one. Attaching the metal piece into the new panel was a "snap". The bottom screws do not need to be removed. Just loosen a bit and slide the new unit onto them. Then using a nut driver screw in the two top screws and then tighten the two lower screws. Now the unit looks like new.

Leaking from bottom of door
The hardest part was locating the leak. After consulting the other repair suggestions, I concluded that the gasket was a little more worn on one side than the other so I ordered the gasket. The evening before the gasket arrived (quick delivery from partselect.com) I decided to shim out the old gasket with some old door insulation. It made the door harder to close but it didn't leak any more. When the gasket arrived I replaced the old with the new. It leaked more than ever. After reading more repair instructions, I decided to take apart the door vent and check it. It was packed solid with gunk. After a good cleaning, I put everything back together. No leaks! I tried every repair listed except the door vent. Guess steam is a good gunk conduit LOL. I supposed I didn't really need the new door gasket but I can tell the door has a tighter seal now. Here's a tip to watch for. If the door doesn't leak right away after the washer starts, take the door apart and look at the vent. It can look just fine from the outside and that's deceiving. Someone else mentioned the 'leak' timing that finally got my attention and lead to the 'fix.'

Dishwasher was smoking.
Replaced the heating element that I ordered from Part Select. The repair cost me less than $25.00 and took me less than 5 minutes. I saved $650.00 by not buying that new dishwasher that my wife wanted to replace it with. I'm sure she will find some way to spend the money I saved(lol). Thank you Part Select.
