PDET910AYW Maytag Dryer - Instructions

I removed the top and front of the dryer then the lint filter housing and frame that holds in the drum then the drum belt and drum. Found that tha drive pulley was spining on ths shaft. I removed the fan cover, so I could remove the fan. I disconted wire harnsh and removed motor clamps from back and front of motor. Removed drive pulley and held shaft with a pare of chanellocks. I removed fan with 7/8 socket and impact drill.Then I replaced the motor by taking the motor frame out of the drier for easyer actess. Install fan on new motor by holding drive pulley with cressent while putting on fan with impact drill. Put motor in u shaped saddles making sure they are seated in the bottom. You may have to turn the barring a little. Then reinstale clamps. Put motor back in drier and put drier back togeather. simple saves money 144.00$ for motor and beld no labor. Ed from Mojve CA.

took off the front panal then took off the bulk head got the drum out and the changed the idler lever put drum back in put on new belt put everthing back together and was done that easy dont forget to un plug the cord

I replaced the lint filter

First thing I had to do was get the dryer into the garage, I needed some room to work. Then I removed the top and let it rest on the side so I didn't have to disconnect any wiring. Then I removed the door switch. Then I removed the front of the dryer. The belt came off easily by just wiggling it towards the back of the drum, then the drum came right out, towards the front. I used the snap ring pliers to remove the drum rollers and installed the new ones. I used regular pliers to remove the tensioner spring and and wrench and socket ratchet to remove the tensioner. Getting the spring on the new tensioner was the hardest part. I replaced the drum with the belt already around it then laid down to route it around the tensioner. You can rotate the drum by hand to make sure any strange noises are gone. If so simply replace everything after a good lint cleaning session, lint can cause fire, and you're good to go. Really easy stuff.

lifted top, removed front panel with nut driver, removed inner panel, repaired burned wires in old cycling timer ,removed remainder of the wires , took off two screws that held old timer in place, removed oldtimer , installed new, and reversed the above mentioned process.

I consulted the instructional video before starting to take the dryer apart. My model is older than the one used in the video but it was still very helpful. Putting the belt on was fairly easy; however, I didn't know I also needed a rear drum wheel as well so while the belt is installed, the dryer still doesn't tumble when anything is in it. Off balance without 2nd rear drum wheel.

I opened the package that arrived and inserted the new lint filter into the place where the old one was. Then I threw the old lint filter away

Pushed in the Door Catch, and it was fixed.

I followed the video on your web site, and it was a snap. The video had very good detail, and was easy to follow.

Followed the video for the idler lever, replacing that was easy but replacing the motor assembly proved to be more difficult (there was no video). Re-installing the clips that hold the motor in place was a pain (special tool required?)but other than that, everything went together nicely. The how - to videos were very helpful. E

First read How to Repair and watched the videos. Followed their step by step explanations. Everything went accordingly. The offending part was the idler pulley. Parts fit like the originals. Dryer sounds almost like a new one. My wife took me to lunch. Life is good!

Installing the new switch was a snap. With the dryer unplugged, open the top using a putty knife to release the 2 clips - one on each side. Lift the top and support it to stay open. Next, note the wire color and location for each of the 3 wires. Remove each wire from its prong on the bad switch by gripping the connector with pliers and pulling off. Next remove the bad switch by squeezing the tabs on the sides of the switch to release it. The switch removes to the front of the dryer. Install the new switch in the same method and reconnect the wires as before making sure the colors go back on the same prongs. I had to replace one of the connectors with a larger one (that came with the switch) since one of the prongs on the new switch was larger than the orginal (bad) switch. To do this, I cut the old connector off, stripped the end of the wire, and crimpted on the new connector. I had to be careful not to waste too much wire since there was very little slack to work with.

I unplugged the dryer, pushed the clips loose and tipped the lid up and tied it open to a cabinet above. Disconnected the electrical connections to the front panel and removed front panel. Then I disconnected the electrical connections to the drum support. Removed four sheet metal screws holding the support and lifted out the support. Removed the drum glides at the bottom, installed the new drum glides with felt pads. I replaced the drum rollers just so I didn't have to do it later. Put everything back in reverse order and running quiet! Well worth the $42.57 spent for parts and postage.

Besides successfully ordering the correct part I also noticed there were instructions on the website as to it's removal process. MOST helpful, I had not predicted the difficulty in doing it until I read the instructions. Very helpful.
