Left-side rack adjuster broke, so upper rack couldn't be used properly.
Per suggestions from other reviews, I looked for You Tube videos for replacing this part. The video I used was completely necessary, but moved way too fast, so required lots of stopping, rewinding and starting again. But I managed to get the old rack adjuster removed and the new one installed without too much trouble. Then I tried installing it in the pull-out rail. The front connector on the new adjuster would not fit into the appropriate slot. Initially I thought maybe the part was defective, but determined that the dimensions were as accurate as my eye and tape measure could evaluate. Finally, I settled on the expedient of filing away at least 1/16" from one edge of the slot so that the connector would drop into place. Not sure why this discrepancy existed but the problem appears to be resolved.
Unscrewed mounting screws, pulled dishwasher out halfway, replaced arms, 4 screws each side .....very simple 30 min tops. Parts perfect and quick delivery!
Took minutes to repair. Unhooked the electrical plug connector to the drain pump. 1/4 turn to the left and pump was off. Just the opposite to install new pump
Take out the upper dishwasher rack. Place the adjuster towards the back of the upper each place attachment clips to secure adjuster and the adjuster clips to the back of the housing. Check to back sure adjuster move up and down and click back into place. Your installation is complete. Good luck!
Pulled out dishwasher, removed 4 bolts holding the track to the dishwasher, replaced track and installed the 4 bolts. Pushed back the dishwasher and works like new. The new tracks are riveted instead of spot weld and will last longer.
This was so simple! Some plastic tabs snapped off the upper rack adjuster in our dishwasher (which is not even 4 years old, so you can see how crappily made these things are), rendering the entire appliance unusable since the water sprayer thingie attaches to the underside of the upper rack. I was able to easily find replacement rack adjusters on PartSelect and thanks to the repair video, was able to install them in about 20 minutes. Most of that was rewinding the video since I had trouble getting the broken adjusters off! So delighted to have been able to do this myself and avoid paying $$$ for a repairman call out and replacement parts.
Replace black access panel on Whirlpool dishwasher (model WDF520PADM7)
I needed to replace the black access panel on my Whirlpool dishwasher (model WDF520PADM7).
By following the instructions in this short video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=995mtdO7rQg) , I was able to complete the replacement in under 10 minutes. You'll need a flat-blade screwdriver. The Retainer Clip - Black can be a little tricky to position into the opening, so have patience.
Keep in mind that the Retainer Clip - Black only contains ONE clip and so you must make sure to order TWO Retainer Clip - Black from PartSelect.
Dishwasher was leaking at the bottom edge of door.
Ordered the door gasket and replaced it. Worked perfect. The trick was to stretch the gasket a little as it went around the top curvatures. It would stick out some and not sit as flat as on the top and sides. This helped it to flatten down better.
Draw not sliding properly. Water manifold low pressure.
Remove entire top rack and place on a large flat work surface. A small screwdriver is needed to release several plastic clips holding the upper drawer slider brackets and manifold in place. Carefully pry the clips free of their mounting holes and remove the bracket. Take some time to study how things are held together before removing anything since one plastic clip is closely affected by the others. Without pictures, and a video, it's really difficult to put into words. I must stress, do not force anything. When disassembling, use the opposite side to as a visual aid to reassemble.
Attachments from tray to upper rack adjuster broken
Upper tray removed and each rack adjuster removed and replaced one after the other. Only tool was screwdriver. Only knowledge was from the online videos. Only took 30 minutes or so. The repair could have been done more quickly if I wasn't fearful that the smaller plastic parts would break when pulled or pried away from the rack adjuster. The only mistake was not making sure the adjuster tabs were fully engaged in back and clicked in the front attachment.
pulled the dishwasher out (took the most time-1 hour) and 30 min. to install new door balance kit and springs. Replace both sides while the unit was out.
