Replacing Icemaker in side-by-side refrigerator
About a year ago, my icemaker stopped making ice. Knowing that a "house call" would cost a fortune, I delayed calling for a repair. Then I discovered the instructional videos on this (and other) websites. Looked like a relatively easy job. Troubleshooting the problem, however, had me scratching my head. Was it the control unit? the ice maker? the water pump? a frozen water line? A 4 day power outage allowed me to rule out the frozen line. The forum here allowed me to rule out the control unit (the blink codes indicated that it was working). So, the pump or the icemaker? Hmmm. I poured some water into the icemaker to see if it would make ice (I think that was a hint on the forum). No ice, so I ordered a new icemaker (and it arrived very quickly). It was very easy to take the old maker out. Some very minor complications with the new icemaker. First, the "funnel" for the water into the icemaker was a bit taller than the old one so had to manuever the water tube into the "funnel". The second problem is that the electrical connector on the icemaker seemed to be longer than the old one so the connector extended beyond the white cover. Not really a problem but it made it difficult to fix the cover over the wire. In the end, it just left it fitted loosely, without screwing it in place. All in all, however, a very straight forward undertaking (made even more so by the excellent videos)

The Ice Cube Maker Tray Would Not Refill With Water
Ps328747 icemaker and water dispenser dual inlet valve was purchased from parts select. My wife, sandy, watched install video provided by parts select on their website. Sandy used plywood to protect our hard wood floor. She pulled out the refrigerator (she did need my help to do this task). Unplugged the refrigerator. I turned off water line in the basement. Sandy followed the video to the tee. Fifteen minutes later the part was installed. The ice maker tray was quickly filled with water. Ice cubes quickly were made. My wife is uniquely talented. Last winter, she remodeled two bathrooms in our naples home replacing all the fixtures, vanities, flooring, etc. My wife can do almost any task. Many years ago, I had a leaking radiator and a broken arm at the same time. What did she do--she removed the radiator from the car, took it the repair, and reinstalled the repaired radiator. Sandy plays tennis, golf, brige, hikes, sings in the church choir, works at theater as a red coat, and at 62 years of age, she tackled another item on her bucket list in january 2012. Sandy's first recital is saturday--she is quiet an accomplished pianist already. I could relate many other stories about her but the most important one is that this beautiful woman has been wife for 43 years and the mother of our two beautiful daughters, jessica and holly.

tab broken off ice guide. discolored and nasty looking. Ice maker had quit working also.
First we bought an icemaker from Parts Select. That repair went very easy. The old icemaker the plastic coating over the metal had started to come off. We replaced the icemaker and I waited but didn't hear it fill the ice tray I was worried then that it was a valve that was mentioned on the website. The next morning my Wife told me, we have ice I was very happy. Easy to replace the ice maker just have to unplug ours at the icemaker itself, loosen 2 bolts and it comes right out. We just purchased this house and later while we where cleaning the dispenser paddles discovered that the ICE GUIDE the bottom tab was broken off and it was badly discolored so we quickly placed a 2nd order for a new ice guide and thought as long as we where doing that pop out the ice dispenser grille and replace that. They ship quickly and prices seem reasonable. Thank you Parts Select.

Ice Maker stopped making ice
The ice maker stopped making ice. Cold water was still available at the freezer door dispenser which seemed to isolate the problem to the ice maker control board/motor. My ice making unit was not identical to the one in the video, but close. After disconnecting the power, I was able to replace the control board/motor without having to remove the entire ice making unit. Total time for repair was under 15 minutes.

Undid the bolts to the ice maker, unplugged it and took it out of the freezer. Removed the cover, unplugged the motor and unscrewed the motor from the casing. To install new motor screw it into the casing, plug it in and replace the cover.

I removed the part and read the part number and ordered the motor. I received the motor three days later. It took about ten to fifteen minutes to replace the motor and another ten minutes to replace all the other parts. The motor was the answer. We have dispensed ice again.

Icemaker stopped making ice.
My icemaker lasted about 3.5 years which appears to be longer than most. I first verified that the IR sensor blink codes were OK. Open the freezer and view the status led. Press the emitter flapper to unblock the optics beam. If the LED is on steady: The optics are working properly. If 2 BLINKS FOLLOWED BY 1 SEC. DELAY(Then repeated) The optics are faulty. Replace the emitter and receiver boards. In my case, I need to replace the icemaker. First watch the video. It will show you the hard to see screw and hidden plastic tabs to release the icemaker. Next remove power from the refrigerator. Remove the rear screw and use a flat blade screw driver for the tabs. The fill tube on on my icemaker was a bit longer than in the video so it caught on the icemaker. Carefully bend the rubber tube and the unit will slide out. The electrical connector has a release tab and may required a bit of effort to pull apart. Transfer the other parts per the video. Then reverse the procedure. This really is an easy repair and the video removes the guess work. The ordering process from PartSelect went smoothly and I received the part in 3 days. This is my second order from them and I am very satisfied.

Ice maker wouldn't work
Your directions were clear. When I took the control off the left side of the freezer compartment the resister burnt the plastic so badly that I had to pry cover loose. This may be a problem for others. Thanks from this "Do-it-yourselfer".
