Replace the Icemaker Motor Assembly
The icemaker on oour Kenmore was fading fast. Ice was only being harvested once every 4-5 hours instead of every two. Then finally it stopped altogether. I did some research and decide that it was the motor assembly that needed to be replaced. I ordered the part and within 3 days it arrived. Within 45 minutes I replaced the part with the assistance of the youtube video. I am not a Mr. Fix-it but this was fairly straight forward. I am now a hero.

no harvest
Assumed a broken ice maker motor, since I tried to force a harvest (jumped T-H) and it did not work, and it is 6 years old. Ice maker went in easy, harvested 3 or so times and quit. Forced another harvest (with the bucket on the door, you have to remove the ice maker to jump the points (PITA)wish they could make the jump points more accessible, like on the old units, mounted on the side). worked about 5 times and quit. Next step is the optics, which, as an old computer guy I find it hard to believe that a circuit board is bad intermittently. As an aside, the door jam gets hot, when I believe it is during harvest time. I vacuumed the coils, but it still heats up... only intermittently, coincidence???

Noisy/Failing Condenser Fan
Unplugged the refridgerator and pulled the rear cover. Had to take the fan blade off in order to get at the screws holding the existing motor in place. Removed the old fan. Pressing the new plastic fan onto the new motor shaft was a little more effort than expected, but I guess it won't come off. I have large hands so mounting the new unit was a little bit of a challenge getting the small screws started. Once the three screws were tightened all I had to do is plug the electrical connector in and replace the rear cover. I was happy that the existing electrical connector was the right one for the new motor too, and that I didn't have to use the provided wire harness. All in all the repair went pretty well.

Replace water filter
Completely on my own. Neither the owner's manual nor the instructions with the filter are of any use.A two or three panel series of diagrams with description of the process in English could make it simple. The release and reattachment of the filter are a bit difficult and need to be described as such.

Door to the ice shute broken with worn out parts.
Took two screwdrivers and inserted bottom of bezel pryed up and out gently. Removed (4) screws and unpluged (3) electronic plugs removing the circuit board. After you remove bezel & circuit board you have a chance to see what you are doing and get to the problem area with more ease. Remove old parts and reverse it putting the new parts. Process is very simple just pay attention to the order everything was removed. On my frig one of the plastic ears that hold the pin which holds the spring and door was broke. The piece I needed was no longer avaliable. I had to use a piece of the plastic from the old parts I removed, drilled a hole the size of the pin in it and glued it to the broken off ear. Put everything back together and I am pleased to say that everything works fine! So you might need to go a little MacGyver on it. All in all very simple fix.

Needed a new bulb under the microwave.
After unplugging the microwave and removing the screw, I removed the old bulb and put in the new one!! I made sure it was in securely and the difference in the light was awesome! I use this light when I bake bread and let it rise inside the microwave, but DO NOT turn it on. The heat from this light helps the bread to rise properly!!
