Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".
The coating on the mold /heater unit as cracked and some broken off and cause the water to drip down in the Ice trace and form large icicles
I just removed the unit and replaced the mold/'heater with the new one and re-installed. It was very easy and didn't have to turn off the refer. or empty the frozen food. However , there were not instruction that came with the mold/heater unit. I had no problem but other do-in-uselfers may need some basic instructons Jim
The light rocker switch wasnt working. I found the part on the web site. It was so easy. I used a screw driver to pop out the old one and pop the new one in. It took 5 min. Thanks!!!
The ice maker had quit before and I fixed it by taking it out to thaw.When it quit working the second time thawing it out didn't do the trick.The dispenser still worked so we were buying bagged ice. The dispenser lever fell apart and my wife said fix them both or "I'm calling a repairman." My in-laws recently had a bad experience with an appliance repair service and my motto is that "if it's already broke I can't hurt it anymore" Found the Parts Select site and started reading everyone instructions. During the summer,our electricity had went off several times,so I figured that the icemaker control and motor assembly was the problem. Watched the installation video,and followed the instructions. Used parts diagrams and super glue to piece dispenser lever back together. Wife is happy and we saved $
I first replaced the switch and had no results, I then ordered the Light Socket Kit, and because I had the experience of removing the panel to replace the switch, it took a few minutes to remove the two screws behind the panel, removing the temperature control knobs and then releasing the face plate which is secured by tabs at the bottom. The kit came with extra connectors in case they were needed, but they were not in my case and so I pulled off the wires, pushed the old socket out and the new one in. Attaching the wires to the correct pins, I screwed in the light bulb to be sure that the fix was correct and determining that, I replaced the screws that held the panel in place. Voila, I'm a happy camper who found some outdated jars in the back corners of the newly lighted shelves.
Replaced motor-modl (part #W10190935) by un-screwing 3 screws, disconnected the the electical plug, removed 3 screws that held the motor assembly to the and removed the motor and replaced with new motor but this did not fix the problem and still had no ice. Since frig was 10 years old decided to buy new one as cost to repair would probably cost a few hundred dollars. Gave frig to family member as second frig as they already had ice maker.
changed the light bulb still would not work so I figured it was the switch sure enough.
I took a chance and ordered a switch that is next to the top of the door. looked for how to remove it easily done in ten minutes works fine last long time.
No Ice, water was valve working, the ice tray was turning
Installed the icemaker control assembly this corrected the problem suspect contacts on the old unit were not making a good contact over time, due to the damp area in the freezer the new unit corrected the repair easy repair.
I was amazed when Fed Ex pulled up to our front door the following day after I ordered the parts, I was wondering what they were delivering and to my amazement it was the parts I had ordered from parts select the previous day , thank you so much , you are awesome. My 73 year old husband who is a 5 year cancer survivor had the part installed and we were ready to start making ice within 1 hour.He went by the installation information sent in by your customers. Removing the ice making assembly from the Ice compartment was not difficult except that two of the 3 screws we not visible without a mirror and then my nut driver was 5" long making it very tight quarters, so it was a time consuming process to remove them. Once the 3 screws were removed the wiring harness was easily disconnected and the whole assembly came out. The next step was to figure out how to remove the faulty part from the rest of the assembly. After some strong persuasion the part would not separate from the control Assy. (The front of the unit) To complete the job I had to pull the front cover and unplug the motor and heater assy to expose two additional screws that had to be removed to pull the defective part out. The reassembly went quite easy except the 2 screws that you need a mirror to see. I was also trying to hurry because the frozen items were not holding all that well after the door was open for about an hour and a half. An instruction sheet showing the steps would have cut the time over 1/2!
Removed and disconnected the icemaker, cleaned all areas and disassembled the failed parts. Reassembled with the new parts inlcuded with the purchased package and resinstalled the unit. Started the unit and chedked for proper operation. Successful repair.
