Bake element developed a hot spot that burned through it.
Easily removed two screws, pulled the wires out of the oven wall, disconnected the old and reconnected the new, pushed it back into the insulation, inserted the screws and tightened them. There was a problem with the model number. It was on a vinyl plate inside the oven drawer wall. The plate was slightly yellowed so I used my finger to wipe the yellow away. When I did, the model number ended up as a black smudge on my finger tip. GE's engineers could have come up with a better method of displaying the model number. GE's customer service operator, however, did an excellent job of helping me to ascertain, at least, some of the number.
The bake element exploded and I thought I would need a new oven.
My husband removed the old element by shutting down the power, then unscrewing the element. Then he screwed in the new element and turned oven on for 5 minutes to break it in.
I turned off the electricity, unscrewed the old one and disconnected the electric wires, then put the new one in just like the old one. It was very easy and now it works great.
When I told my husband I ordered the part and was going to fix it myself, he laughed and said I might not have ordered the right part for the problem and I should just buy a new stove. The part was delivered the day before Christmas, just 3 days after I placed the order! I had read the stories of others fixing theirs and gave it a shot. It took me longer to find the tools then it did to replace the element! I took the screws out , pulled the element toward me and disconnected the wires. Put it back the way I found it. Oven heated up in less then 5 minutes!
I removed the two screws that held the element in place. I pulled out the element and disconnected the two wires and unscrewed the screws and then place the new element to it. screwed the wires back to the element wires and then push it back in. Replaced the outside plate and screw the two screws back in.

The part was delivered in 24 hours with regular shipping and was simple to replace. Uncrewed it, disconnected wires from the old one and connected the new one. Cost a little more than $30 including shipping and the oven works great!
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. Removed the old piece and connected the wires to the new piece. I'm a woman and this took me less that 15 minutes to complete. Easy as pie. On top of that, I received my order within 3 days! Oven would not heat, but broiler, burners and thermostat was clicking, so we figured it was the bake element.
Had to take back panel off of the inside of the oven to get to the screws to remove the old element and attache the new. Removed the two screws to remove the old, pulled it out unattached the wires and attached the new one.
Made sure oven was turned off. I used nut driver to remove nuts holding old element to back of oven. gently pulled element out of wall, taking care not to yank because of wires attached to back of element. Made sure oven was off again and then used nut driver to carefully remove wire leads from receptors on element. removed old element from oven and got the new element. carefully used nut driver to attach wire leads to new element. When snugging the bolts to leads, used pliers to keep leads on the element from bending. carefully replaced wires and rear of element into the space behind oven, and used nut driver to attach the back of element to the back of oven. shut oven and turned on to make sure it worked. it did. I was very pleased with my experience with part select dot com, and will be buying another element soon to replace the one in my other oven! Thank you
Bake element was getting old, thin and burning hotter in various spots. Ordered new part. Upon arrival, turned off power in the fuse box, 2 screws removed the old bake element from wall of oven. 2 more screws disconnected the power supply. Installed new part, reconnected all 4 screws and turned power back on. Entire job took 15-30 minutes, extremely easy.
Melted cheese dripped onto element and it burned through element causing it to fail.
Turned off power to oven and removed screws attaching element to back of oven with a socket wrench. After removing the screws, I pulled element out about six inches and used a screw driver to remove the screws that attached the two electrical wires to the end prongs of the element. After removing old element, I simply reversed the process to install the new element.
First of all I would like to praise PartSelect. I ordered the part Friday afternoon and it was delivered the next day (Saturday) I couldn't believe it, because I chose the cheapest shipping, probably had something to do with it coming from in state. First MAKE SURE BREAKER IS OFF, unscrew the old element from the inside of the oven and pulled it out and then unscrew the connection piece,(make sure wires don't fall back through hole once disconnected) re-screwed the new element to the connection pushed it back through the hole and then re-screwed the mount to the inside of the oven. It was that simple by far the easiest home repair I have ever done and I'm a 52 year old women. Praying before always helps too.
took cover off back of stove. Removed two screws and wires that were attached to the element. Removed old element and installed new element. An easy repair.
