JKP27G*J4 General Electric Wall Oven - Instructions

Our son unplugged the stove, took a socket fitting the nuts and pulled the old bake element out. He then put the new one in plugging up the wires and screwing the nuts back in. Plugged in stove and works perfect!

Reatached to the oven white and black wire connection to the element with the screws provided in 10 minutes.

This oven is really weird and is approximately 50 years old. We would have had to do a significant renovation to get another stove/oven into the space. I had to use a drill to remove the old element and had to drill new holes to screw in the new element. I measured the old element and was lucky to find one that was compatible. Thanks!

Turned off power to oven! Removed 2 screws and carefilly pulled element out about 2 inches then removed 2 more screws and removed old element. Installed new element. Done! It actually took me longer to type this than it did for the repair.

Unpacked new part , shut off electric breaker to range. Removed both screws that held element to oven wall. Pulled out old element so I could loosen to screws that held wires to element. Loosened these, got new element attached wires to new element pushed back in to oven wall and put both screws back in to hold new element against oven wall. Put cooking racks back in , closed oven door. Turned power back on then tested oven and new element worked great. This was a very easy fix for me and would be for a lot of people mr. Green

Removed the two screws holding the element into the back of the oven, pulled the element out about 6 inches, removed the screws holding the attached wires, attached the wires to the new element, pushed the element back and attached the two screws that now held the new element secure to the back of the oven.

my 14 year old daughter did it in about 10 mins. very easy

1st step and most important. Locate the circuit breaker for the oven and make sure it is OFF. Used nut driver to remove the two screws holding the element mounting plate to the rear wall of the oven. Gently pulled element out to expose wiring attached to the element. Removed those two screws holding the two wires to the element and removed the old element. Simply reversed the process to install the new element. The entire exercise took 10 maybe 15 minutes.

Very easy. 1. Just turn off the stove at the electrical box, 2. take off the oven door, it's very simple, just lift it straight up off the hinges, 3. Take the screws out of the old element, we had a "what do we do moment" wondering about the different colors of the wires and if it made a difference, but we went ahead and installed the screws on the wires with the white wire on the right side, 4. installed the heating element in the back wall, 5. turned the stove back on and burned off the protective film from the heating element; 6. and it works fine. No problem: easy peasy. and I'm 71 years old and a female. I also took the opportunity and cleaned up the inside real well while the bottom was clear of the heating element.

Repair is pretty easy, its the accessability that makes it difficult. This is a wall mount oven. Removing the door would provide pretty good access, but having to reach over the door into the very top back of the oven is a real pain (in the back and other places). As another customer said, there were many dropped screws and much cussing. The old element terminals were just holes in a metal tab that accepted tapered screws. The new element had terminals that were threaded to accept the screws provided. It took lots of twisting and turning of the element and the power wiring to get the terminal on the wire lined up with the terminal on the element in a position where I could hold them together and insert the screw and start the threads. Don't try this after you've had a beer or two. Whew!!! Many tries, sore back, but did it. Like I said, simple except for the reach. Bake element was much easier. Hope I don't have to do this one again. My GE oven is a winner (20 plus years old) and Parts Select has what you need at a reasonable price and ships quickly. Have used before and will use again, if needed.

Four screws and this was out and the new one back in. So easy. I took the two screws that held the bake element in place out and then two other screws connected the element to the red and yellow power supply.. For safety first: UNPLUG YOUR STOVE.

Easy if you have the right tools. Turn off the electricity to the oven. Remove two screws to release the element; pull the prongs out carefully so you don't damage the insulation. Unscrew the wiring from the old element. Attach wiring to the new element and secure with the existing screws. Ease the prongs back through the insulation and screw (you can use the existing screws or the ones supplied with the replacement part) the wall mount back into place, taking care to make sure that the element brackets are resting evenly on the oven floor. Turn electricity on and turn on the oven to make sure the new element is working properly. Easy. This oven is 25 years old--hope to get a few more years out of it.
