Turned off power to the oven at the circuit breaker. Pulled the old heating element from the back lower wall of the oven. Noted the position of the wires (right terminal attached to the red wire, left to the black wire). Removed small bolts holding the element to the wires using pliers. Attached the new element using screw driver. New element came with screws, not bolts. Pushed the element back into place and restored power. Tested to make sure everything worked. Everything works and I ran an oven cleaning cycle. Noticed that indicator light above the temperature selctor is always on now even when oven is in the OFF position. Not sure if that's related to the change or to the oven cleaning cycle I ran. In any case, oven seems to work normally.
Unplugged the range, took old elements out, put new ones in. Couldn't have been easier and for the total cost of about $60; I have a working oven again. A LOT cheaper than a new $600 range!!
Bake Element was bad and Drip bowls needed replaced
First I turned the breaker off the Range. Second I removed the two screws that held the element inplace. Then I pulled element front until I could get to the two screw which connected the wires and removed then. Removed old Bake element. Installed new element by connecting the two wires and then pushed the element into place and secured it by reinstalling the two screws. Turned the breaker back on and tested. This is a very easy item to replace and takes very little time.
The Surface Element on our GE stove made in the mid 70's finally gave up and would not heat. I went to several of the big home improvement stove with not luck in finding the right heating element for our stove so I turned to a local appliance stove that carries GE products, they did sell me an element and asured me it was the correct one, but once again the element was the wrong one. Then with a simple google search for GE replacment parts I found partselect.com. With the detailed description and images with measuring grids I was able to quickly find the correct heating element for me stove. I am very pleased and the stove is back to 100%. Thanks partselect.com
Bottom element in oven caught on fire and broke in two
The element was 25 years old and I was concerned about changing it. But is was so easy. I turned off power and removed 2 screws and then unscrewed the wiring from the old element. I had the new one installed in minutes. I was so glad to have my oven working again. Who needs a man.
Couldn't be a much simpler repair. You pull the old element off by removing two screws. Then you slide the old element toward you several inches and remove the two screws holding the wires that are attached to the old element. To replace, just do everything in reverse. One cautionary measure, even though the oven is off, there is still a small amount of electricity going to the element. Turn the stove off at the circuit breaker, or unplug the stove before you attempt the repair.
Hi, First unplug appliance ,remove the oven door by pulling it up from the hinges, giving room to work deep inside , remove the two screws that hold the element in place. then pull the element out carefully not to stress the wires and replace the element . Note after all is done test with an oven thermometor :)
Oven element melted then naturally would not heat.
First I removed the two screws that held the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. Then I removed the old element from the oven and replaced it with the new element. Then I connected the two wires to the new element and pushed the element into place. Then I replaced the two screws that held the element in place. I then tested the oven and it worked wonderfully.
After being invited to my mom's house for supper, the oven lower baking element had shorted out and self destructed.
After supper, without biscuits, I removed the element by simply removing 4 screws with my nut driver. We went home and I immediately went online to your web site, inserted the old element part number, followed the ordering instructions, and in 3 dayd the new element had been delivered to our door. Several days later we were invited to mom's for dinner once again. I quickly installed the new element (perfect fit and works great) and enjoyed a great supper........with biscuits this time. Thank you.
TURN OFF CIRCUIT BREAKER before doing anything even if oven is not turned on! If I hadn't checked voltage with tester before starting I would have made a shocking discovery. 1) unscrewed shield cover to get get at the element screws. 2) unscrewed element screws and removed old element - pulling connecting wires out about 3 inches 3)attached new element to connecting wires (2 screws) 4) pushed new element into place and reattached element connector plate to wall of oven 5) reattached shield cover to wall of oven
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires...I copy and pasted this from their example - it really is that easy - this is a simple repair.
