First of all, you must watch the video on the partselect.com site. The video helps a lot. Then, you can start disconnecting the power cable; unscrew the cover of the main control board. Disconnected the connections from the old board. Unplug the board with a help of a small plier. Installed the new board, connect all connections back. Put the cover back. Connect back the power cable. Unit is running as a brand new.

I have very close clearance to a facing island counter, so I removed the door handles using a small allen wrench. I moved the unit out from the cabentry and removed the six or so screws holding on the cover plate for the main circuit board. I labeled the several pin connectors to the board, and used pliers to gently remove them from the old board. The instructions that came with the replacement board discussed cutting wires depending on my specific unit, but it was clear I did not need to do that. I replaced the circuit board and replaced the cover plate. For good measure I vacuumed the dust from the heat exchanger. The repair worked very well as the unit cooled down from a freezer/refigerator temp of 14/40 to -1/35 in a matter of a few hours.

Refer would not get cold. Compressor would nor run.

We were not sure if the problem was with the fan or the main control board after reading other posts with similar problems we decided the main control board was most likely the problem our unit is over 5 years old with heavy use. We left the fridge pulled away from the wall and put a medium size fan aimed toward the condensor, compressor area and that worked bringing the temperature down and the unit did shut off. This further assured us that it was probably the main control unit and we also figured with the units age the control board would eventually have to be replaced. It took several days to get the main control unit(not bad)and we left the fan in place during the wait. We watched the video read the instuctions and had just a small problem removing some of the wiring harnesses nothing major. Squeezed the plastic tabs with needle nose pliers my son pulled as I watched everything carefully came off well put the new one in place easily plugged all the wires back on you cannot put them in the wrong place do to the configurations plugged the unit back in and the fan went right to work. Put everything back together and the unit runs as quiet as it did when it was new the part was a little pricey but saved the cost of a repair man

A local appliance parts shop told me that GE refrigerators were notorious for bad control boards. The new one cost ~ $200, with express shipping. Removal and installation were easy and straight-forward. After the replacement, the refrigerator is working fine--for now.

contacted partselect online, chose part from part listings and ordered the part online. PartSelect sent the part quickly and I changed it as soon as it came in. Took about 20 minutes total. This is a good web site and i will recomend it to others. The ice maker won't work now so I'll have to order the parts to fix that.

I changed the defrost thermostat and the evaporator thermistor and the main control board I didnt change the defrost heater because I tested it for continuity and it did have continuity, the freshfood section and freezer section thermistors had 16.3 k ohms + - 5 % so I didnt change those, and the problem got worst now the freezer section wont cool under 40 degrees and the fresh food section is about 50 - 60 degrees I might as well put the old board on at least the freezer was actualy freezing for a week or so, before it needed defrosting.

We first read that we should thoroughly clean the coils which we did. They were very dirty, full of dust. This seemed to help for a couple days then the hot and cold started up again and was even worse. We did some research on the internet and all indications led us to change the main control board. We found PartSelect ordered the part, received it super fast (within 2 days), changed the part in less than 15 mins and our refrigerator works like new. No trouble since the repair. Saved a lot of time and money doing the repair ourselves.
