ESS22XGMDCC General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

I followed the video instructions. It looked easy to do and it was. the video gave helpful little thing about the repair that made it easy. And it worked

1.Unplug and turn off water supply to refrigerator. 2.Remove several screws from back panel and remove panel 3. Remove water supply line from valve. 4. Remove screw holding valve on using 1/4" nut driver or socket. 5.Remove the 2 electrical plugs and 2 water lines from valve. 6.reinstall in reverse order. This is a 5 minute job at best. Good Luck! I had my fridge in storage for several years and when it froze it cracked the storage tank PS783769 I replaced it first and found valve was leaking after tank was replaced.

I had to defrost large chunks of ice from the rear of the freezer compartment and tried reactivating the ice maker several times before deciding to order the replacement fill tube grommet and clamp. This was very stressful and complicated to accomplish while trying to avoid food spoilage, and consumed a lot of time. It involved removing the ice maker and various panels, plus disconnection of 2 electrical plugs, then using a hair dryer to melt ice build up. The installation of the new parts was quick and simple once they arrived in the mail, and this appears to have solved the leak problem. The fill tube slides easily into the grommet and the clamp, tightened with a screw driver, secures the water feed line on the other end. Fill tube must be carefully threaded through rear panels and into the ice maker receptacle and the grommet needs to be pushed hard and wiggled in order to seat properly in the rear surface of the refrigerator.

Took out the existing two screws for each slide rail. Placed the screw into the back hole first and then screwed in. Then placed the front screw in and did the same thing to the next rail. It was super easy and an inexpensive fix to a necessary part of the refrigerator. The pictures for ordering made it easy to be sure I was ordering the proper parts that I needed. Thank you for making it easy and a pleasure to be a customer. The parts arrived very quickly.

Very simple repair. Watched the installation video of the motherboard on PartSelect.com. and followed the steps. Took me longer to pull the refrigerator out away from the wall than it did to do the installation. Do pay attention to how you remove the plugs from the old motherboard so you plug them in correctly on the new one. We amateurs tend to over think our projects. Watch the video of the pro. Follow their instructions. Be very happy and satisfied with the results. And, remember, ALWAYS unplug your appliance. No shortcuts.

Popped off the front frame and front of mother board. unscrewed the assembly to be able to lift up to get to flapper. Lifted it up out of the the way ( wires are attached so it may take one other person to hold it up out of the way). Pop out the old flapper and replace with new one. Easy !

Repair went exactly like the video. With this video it was easy to make the repair. There were no surprises or problems and I felt confident in the videos instructions. It was like pushing the easy button.

Part shipped in 2 days after requesting basic mail. Video was exremely accurate, no surprises. Valve replacement DID NOT fix my problem, however. I had to twist the water filter plug on and off a few times to release better pressure. My issue appeared to be with filter mount shut off. Still cheaper than a repair man!

Installed a dual water inlet valve.. by turning off the water and unplugging the refrigerator. use a nut driver to remove the screws and removed the connector to the inlet valve.. installed the valve and reverse the procedure. it was very ease also the Part Select troubleshooting information and instructions was very helpful..

What an awesome site! After putting in my model number and finding the problem I was having, I simply picked the 2 parts that were most likely to solve the problem. I bought a defrost thermostat, and defrost heater. To a high certainty, they would solve my problem. They didn't however! I ended up having to buy a temperature sensor on another order a few weeks later when the problem resurfaced! My own fault. I should have bought it the first time. As others have written: the longest part of the job is defrosting the ice from the coil. One thing I did that I didn't see suggested: plug the drain hole below the coil. I put a couple towels in the bottom of the freezer and ran the hair dryer. Didn't take long. I read that the amount of water created will overflow the pan under the refrigerator, so I plugged the drain hole. Once you clean that mess up, the repair is pretty straight forward. Great site. Even through I had to make two separate purchases, I still saved a lot of money. Thanks!

Hardest part was removing the escutcheon around the ice maker on the door. Used a putty knife to find first clip pullout than the rest was easy. Disconnecting plugs from circuit board not as easy as looks, broke one locking clip have to be more careful when lifting the small clips. Once done than removed plastic casing and and easily removed the flapper and replaced with new one. Since I didn't know what I would encounter I ordered a spring and the arm that holds the flapper. I pre- assembled the parts and had it ready to install once I removed the defective part. Whole job under ten minutes...GE service starts at $99.95 just to come and look at it, than parts and labor after that I saved at least $100 dollars. Very easy fix.

Performed repair per the PartSelect on-linevideo. Some posters had said the solenoid could be rusted, so I had ordered one. Turned out to be fine, and I have returned it. I much appreciated the hint from another poster, that it was no longer necessary to pry the escutcheon off the door, and merely pressing inside the outer 2 holes on the bottom of the control panel would suffice. I encountered no complications. Frist problem is gone.
