EL5030VW1 Roper Dryer - Instructions

Replace the switch in diagram #4.

Unplugged the power cord. Removed two screws on lint vent , used putty knife to release clips to raise top at front of unit. Disconnected the plug from front door switch. Laid dryer on its back. Removed two screws to remove front including the door. Vacuumed lint from inside unit. Installed belt temporarily using two pieces of masking tape to hold it in place while properly routing the belt. Gave the tub a full turn to insure alignment.. Reinstalled the front of unit with the two screws. Righted the unit and snapped down the top. Replaced the two lint vent screws. Plugged it back in and done! Piece of cake!

Unplugged the dryer... a 220 shock can be deadly. I removed the back of the dryer using the nut driver. Using a needle nose pliers I removed the electrical connecters from the thermostat. The thermostat fell apart in my hands.. Easy diagnosis. I continued with disconnecting all wiring from the heating unit (thermal cut off also)and removed. There is an upper screw on the unit that needs to be removed (it is kind of difficult to do), I used a wrench set with a 1/4" drive. Then just lift and pull a little towards you. I inspected the heating coils for breakage. There were none. Being as this unit is 25 years old and not repaired before, I decided to replace the Thermal cut-off, thermostat-250F, and the thermal fuse. All three could have been a culprit in this case, even after the obvious. Putting it back together is the opposite of taking it apart. SUCCESS....$80.00 repair vs $499.00 for a new one. By the way... clean out the lint while you have it apart.

Once I watched a YouTube video showing me how to do the job I ordered the part from you. Am so impressed with your fast shipping and best prices via the Internet. Thank you SO much! The water level switch was easy to install, it ws getting the cover on the washer back on that was hard for me since I am 68 yrs old and have a bad knee. Its why it took me two hours to do what most people could do in 20 minutes.

When the part came in. I unplugged the dryer. Pulled it away from the wall and took the back off. I pulled the wires off the old fuse and plugged them in the new fuse, then unscrewed the on nut that held the old fuse. Then slid the new one in and put the nut back on. Plugged the dryer in and it worked. So I unplugged the dryer and put the back on.

Unplugged dryer from wall. Removed screws from the back using the socket set. Removed thermostat screws and disconnected wires(one at a time) while replacing new thermostat. Replaced second thermal and tightened screws. Replaced back panel on dryer. Plugged in, turned on and dryer was repaired..

Watched video on locating and testing parts (did help that I had a digital meter w/cont-tone ) removed and cleaned out dryer cabinet tested heating element-was ok went to thermal cutoff (tested bad ) ordered kit from part select parts arrived within two days (fantastic ) replaced parts in thermal cut off kit . Replaced dryer back also and important -removed dryer vent and cleaned out pipe -replaced vent pipe turned on the power tried dryer works like new again your easy to follow instructions made this a very easy job thanks people ! You saved me a great deal of aggravation and more important money

Removed the back panel, found the fuse and replaced it. Easiest thing I've ever done! I was expecting it not to be the problem, but I started with the "most common" issue via the website. Voila...it was the problem!

Unlike your video, with this model, the thermal fuse is located near the front of the dryer, which I didn't find out until the back was already off.

I watched the online video first, which made the removal and installation fast and easy.

we received the two heating element wires in 3 days and connected the heating element with no problem works great.
