I didn't know what was wrong at first, only that the dryer would not start. I bought it used so had no fear of taking it apart to diagnose. Found the broken belt inside, ordered a replacement, installed the new belt, then crossed my fingers. Was pleasantly surprised that was all that was wrong and that for less than $20, including shipping, a few hours of my time, and a little help from YouTube videos the dryer is working again!

easy to fix took less than 10 minutes

Simply popped the old broken part out and popped the new part into place. I wasn't sure if it was the Latch Door or the Door Strike. Once the parts arrived, it was clear the Door Strike was not the issue.

Well, I purchased this dryer new in 1993, and the rear bearing went bad the winter of 1997. It was late at night, the parts warehouse was closed, and a new rear bearing back then was $25 which I didn't have, but I had skills and a brass garden hose quick disconnect fitting I modified. Well, 17 years later (Jan 2014) the brass bearing wore out along with the Drum Slide Bearing and its TEFLON slides. I've had this dryer apart every two years for a thorough cleaning up until 3 years ago.We moved to a newer home and this unit was the last thing on my list. So taking it apart and putting it back together again was a snap. The total repair would have taken only an hour, maybe an hour and a half, but due to parts on order, it took 3 days. Anyway, it got its cleaning, the new parts installed and fired back up in under 75 minutes. I figure I've got another ten years of use coming from it. If this is your first time repairing this or any other appliance, all I can say is take your time, and if your memory is short, use that cell phone camera or any other digital camera you might own and photograph, photograph, photograph. Record everything. And keep it on file. I've posted photos on my FB page for the women I know that are single or whose husband needs help with these fixes. Keep your dryer clean. Set up a schedule for every other year to dismantle and thoroughly clean the unit. The worse thing to happen is a dryer/lint fire. And believe me, there are areas where lint accumulates that don't go into the lint screen and you can't reach with a brush.

Repaired in less than 15 minutes. Unpluged dryer. Took back off to get to rotary start switch unscrewed the two wires. Then took them off watching where to put them back. Put on the new rotary start switch. Put the wires back then screwed every thing back into place. And put dryer mechanism back in place put screws back and pluged in dryer checked to make sure it worked. Wow it came on and I was so happy to be able to dry my clothes. Thank you so much. Im one happy lady. No more hanging my clothe's to dry. Happy in michigan.

Ordered new part, part came in, snapped in to place. Took less than 5 minutes, the hardest part was getting the part out of the package.

First ordered the "bearing" strips (before I opened the front of the dryer and saw that the plastic housing the strips mount on, was already being reduced to the thickness of paper, as the drum was rubbing on it - bearing strips were long gone, (I should have addressed problem as first sound of squeaking). Went back on line, and ordered the upper support housing (approx $40). It arrived next day - although I didn't request that delivery charge / method. Put the previously ordered bearing strips on it, and Installed it relatively easily (after vacuuming the entire interior of the dryer). Nice and quiet now. Found receipt and owner's manual. It's 20 years old. Would rather fix it, than replace and have in landfill. It seems like it has a few more years in it. P. S. helped to watch a YouTube video on taking off the front piece of the dryer.

I noticed the original blower wheel was worn, the hole for the motor shaft was reamed out and the blower was not spinning with the motor. Air was not being circulated so the clothes were not drying well. Replacing the wheel was relatively easy. I did see other people commenting on the difficulty of getting the drive belt re installed properly. I noticed a small "lip" bent into the motor frame, and found the arm for the belt tensioner would fit into this lip and it held it out of the way while I reinstalled the drum and reouted the belt onto the motor pulley. Once the belt was in place, I gently let the tensioner out of its holding position and everything went back into place nicely.

You guys are awesome! It took me less than 5 minutes to look your company up, place the order, and closeout. Vroom...the part was to me in 3 days! I simply took it out of the wrapper, pressed the tabs into the existing slots, and done. And that cost....baby it's good. Thank you

I had to take the top panel off of the dryer which is 2 screws inside the dryer door jam. Then the front panel had to come off which was 2 screws inside the dryer above the tumbler. One on each side. Then it lifts off of two hooks at the bottom. Then the left panel (left if you are looking at the front of the dryer) had to come off which was a few screws on the back, a few on the front, and one on the bottom. Once I had the panels off, I unscrewed the blower wheel which is one screw. I took the blower wheel cabinet loose but didn't remove it. There is a metal collar that holds the motor to the bracket. Pull it off from the top. Unplug all the wires attached to the motor. I took a picture of the wire connections with my phone for reference with the new motor. Remove the belt. The motor should pull out towards you. The new motor comes with a pulley. Put the pulley on the motor and tighten locking screw. Put new motor in dryer and replace the metal collar. Connect all wire connections. Reconnect the blower wheel and tighten all screws to the blower wheel housing. Now, I plugged the dryer back in and tested it without reattaching the belt. Know that if you do it this way, the dryer will not stay on because there is a relay switch that is engaged only when the belt is on the pulley and there is tension on the belt tensioner. When the dryer motor worked properly, I replaced the belt and put all the panels back on. Plugged it up and it worked beautifully.

The info from your web site was helpful. I had never taken a dryer apart and the instructions made the job easy. Used socket set to remove the back panel and top control panel. Then used a phillip's screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the top of the dryer; these screws are accessed by opening the door to the dryer. To remove the front of the dryer remove to the two screws that are located at the top upper corners where front panel meet the side panel. Once these two screws are removed, remove the belt from around the drum and lift the drum out. The drum bearing is located on the back of the drum; remove the remnants of the old bearing and replace it with the new one. Retrace your steps to put the dryer back together. To get the belt back on track you will have to remove the lower back panel to access the belt drive and tension pulley. It is not difficult. God bless you.

disassembled chassis of dryer, unbolted top, lifted top to expose drum. bolted top back on. resumed repair next morning. unbolted top. lifted drum (it moved up and down about 1 inch) and got new belt around it. rebolted top down. tipped dryer to its back. unbolted and removed panel at bottom, exposing drive motor and tensioner spring. positioned belt around drive motor spindle and tensioner spring. replaced panel. reconnected dryer to electricity. reconnected gas using new flexible connector.
