The noise is gone
Very easy to remove the front and top with a total of 4 screws as per the video. Removing the old piece was easy. The only hang up was putting the new piece on and it wasn't fitting snug. I then realized there was a lip that should sit around the dryer door open. Once I did that it fit perfect and was a matter of putting the screws back.

rotary switch had failed, needed replacement
Hardest part was rustling up the proper screw driver. 1) Unplug dryer from outlet. 2) Pull plastic knobs off all switches. 3) Remove screws and remove control panel. 4) Remove rotary switch by gently prying up on hold-down arm and twisting entire switch mechanism. 5) Remove wires one at a time and attach to corresponding spade lugs on new switch. 6) Install switch and twist into place. 7) Replace panel. 8) Replace control knobs. Under 20 minutes.

Loud stretching
My dryer was making a loud stretching sound which I thought, because of previous experience, could be fixed by replacing the bearing slides. The problem turned out to be that the blower wheel that is attached to the motor was loose. I pushed the blower wheel all the way in so that about 1/4" of the motor shaft sticks out. I then tightened the bolt with a socket wrench. Problem solved.
