CTX21GKJR Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

I followed the instructions and had no trouble. The refrigerator now cycles on and off as it should. The iside temp. is much colder and I know there will be a good savings on electricty.

Less than 5 minutes needed to remove cracked rail and replace with new rail. Must have a star wrench to perform task. Very simple task!

Manually snapped the plastic gasket into the slots of the refrigerator. The part fit perfectly after a slight adjustment.

Defrost timer is hidden in the control panel in the refrigerator top middle. Turn to off and remove two screws which are hidden behind white tabs. I had to pry the old timer from the plug with a screw driver because it was tight. Try not to short across the terminals. Plug in the new timer. Replace it in the clip where you got old one and reinstall the controls. The freezer was still all frosted up so I had to remove the cover and defrost it with a hair dryer to get it to work. Then I turned it on and it works great.

Just as your video described, although due to the age of the fridge, it took a bit longer to remove the defective switch. Your video made this so simple, I can't imagine why we lived with a dark fridge for so long! I was ready to buy a whole new fridge, as repairmen are often nonexistent for small repairs. I watched the video, supplied on the website, two times and followed the procedure. The repair was very easy and a pleasant experience. Lay the new gasket out flat for a couple of days in the sun prior to installation and remove the door and lay it flat for the installation of the gasket. Remove old gasket and clean track and surrounding area thoroughly. Line up new gasket over track and at each corner and press into track, starting in center of one side, and work your way to each corner - repeat on each of the remaining three sides. Use a wet sponge to slide along the top of gasket while pressing same into track on the door.

Excellent instructions from your video. Replaced gasket once without removing door quite harder to do. Placed gasket in sun to warm it up, didn't have to heat it in hot water. Much easier once doors are removed and replaced gasket on large table or bench. Thanks for the video and your prompt delivery of part.

Checked the defroster coil which is located behind the rear panel in the freezer compartment, it was still working. Followed the schematics down to the defrost timer, which is located in the lower front of the refrigerator and tried that. Plugged in the new part and the problem is solved.

Followed the PartsSelect how-to video to the letter., using clothes dryer option to soften the gasket before installation. Installing the new gasket a little tedious, but not difficult. Video was dead on as to method and tools.

Fairly easy I pull the fridge foward and remove the backing board and notice the fan wasn't working, so I remove the fan and bench tested and it was burned then I clean the condenser with compress air if you don't have air then a vacuum cleaner works then once the part arrived I install it the now if working very good
