Ice maker would not make ice
The ice maker was easily replaced, however I still had no ice. I ended up using an on-line repair service which determined that the problem was the water inlet valve. Replacing it was beyond my expertise so I hired an appliance repairman.

Ice maker dripped water to make one large icecube
After reading the articles previous owners wrote, I tackled the repair. There were no big problems until I had to change out the water line on the icemaker tray--that part was for a different frig--so it had to be changed out with the Amana water line part that was enclosed. I couldn't get that part removed, so I had to have my husband change it out. He then finished the installation. Everything went smoothly, just my pride wanted me to finish it all by myself.

Light switch which turns on the lights when the door opens went out
This is an easy fix, simply remove and replace. What I was impressed with is that a how to video was provided along with my part. I wish all manufactures would offer this, the video was easy to understand and you had a good view of the operation. Thanks, a job well done.

not cooling
removed condenser fan -located behind refrigerator next to compressor, Not much clearance to work, there are 3 screws to remove from condensing motor, sounds easy but clearance is lacking to remove them ,(takes alot of PATIENCE). Then you have to remove the fan blades to be able to get clearance to remove motor!! I wouldn't reccommend trying this repair unless you are a pro.

ice maker leaking and freeing into icebergs`
easy enough, removed 3 screws, unplugged wiring harness, put new unit on work bench, put old wire harness on new unit, put old motor cover on new unit,(the only trouble i had was figuring out how to swap the light blue plastic piece for the white plastic piece, i just put a screwdriver underneath and applied pressure) plugged harness back into freezer, turned water back on and waited... 2 hours later heard beautiful ice cubes dropping into tray :)

inlet valve leaked water after installation
The ice maker was easy but the older Maytag inlet valves are rigid plastic line- make sure that line is properly connected to back of fridge- the 1st night the water leaked down back of freeze- thus no ice in ice maker tray ----but the bottom of freezer was full of frozen water--- took ice maker off and realigned inlet pipe- once that was done- no more problems- ( did also have to take hair dryer and remove all ice build up in bottom of freezer --- remember to check that rigid line as it can become detached while changing out ice maker assembly- thx Greg

The icemaker was leaking into the ice hopper creating an iceberg.
After receiving the new ice maker assembly I placed the new part next to the old one to see what I needed to transfer from the old to the new. After removing the wiring harness and a few small parts, I placed them on the new assembly. After that it was a snap which timewise took about 15 minutes. I am pleased to say the ice hopper is full and being replenished very efficiently.

Replaced icemaker
1. Prepare the new ice maker by installing the bail cut off from old unit and installing the wiring harness from old ice maker. 2. Turn off the freezer unit only and turn off water supply. 3. Unplugged the electrical connector from the ice maker to the plug in back of freezer compartment. Remove the three (3) screws holding ice maker in place. Placed the cap from old unit to new ice maker. 4. Plug the electrical connector to the plug in back of freezer. Attached new unit with the three screws. Place bail in on position and turn the freezer and water on, ice made in circa 3 hours (without leaking I might add :)

Both light bulbs had been replaced, but lights did not turn on.
I tried to remove the old light switch using a putty knife and a hammer. It was hard to compress the plastic tabs to pull it back through the hole, but all of a sudden, the lights came on. I guess banging on the switch freed-up the contacts. The new switch is now a spare part in case I need it.
