CSX22GRBEAA Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

Followed the instruction as per the video on PartSelect website. Actually this was the second time the defrost heater harness kit was replaced by me. This time the kit was a double "bulb" instead of a singular one. Did not have to re-wire however.

I disconnected power to the refrigerator. Pried the face plate plate off the front of dispenser(plastic plate that has symbols for ice, water, light). Removed four screws. Gently removed and unplugged dispenser controller (You have to remove the rubber cover of the actuator - it pops off). Removed one screw to dispenser assembly crank. Assembled flapper, spring, and crank. Re-assembled in reverse order.

Removed complete back door panel (which took longer than 15 minutes, if I had started correctly it would not have taken me as long) then I figured out that the plastic plate with the GE symbol and water/crushed ice/ice label can be easily pried off. May want to do this with the freezer door open so the dispenser doesn't operate, or unplug unit. 1. Removed 4 philip head screws. 2. Pull out rubber switch cover used to dispense the water/ice. 3. Gently pry out plastic square piece behind rubber switch cover. 6. Gently pry out plastic control housing. 7. Note orientation of electrical plug, maybe take a picture with phone, on left hand side and disconnect. 8. Pull control housing out. 9. Replace housing in reverse order. To replace logic board: 1. Remove two screws located on each end of the control housing. 2. Remove the plastic strip the screws were holding. Note orientation of strip. 3. Gently pry dispenser and light knobs from housing. 4. Pull logic board out and insert the new board. 5 Reassembly in reverse order. To replace solenoid: 1. Disconnect 2 wires connected to solenoid 2. Remove 3 philips head screws on bottom front of solenoid bracket. 3. Loosen single screw in top of solenoid bracket. 4. Pull out solenoid. 5. Install new solenoid in reverse order. Note Dispenser assembly crank arm should be below the pin in the solenoid plunger. To replace dispenser assembly crank: 1. Note spring position and location. 2. Pull left side of arm from guide. 2. Pull right side of arm out of right side guide hole. 3. Slide spring off of right side arm. 4. Gently pull off dispenser cover, disc. 5. Push disc onto new crank assembly. 5. Install in reverse order.

EASY install—I watched the video from your web site ( very helpful in knowing what to look at AND how to do!!!) ….
My refrigerator had a single heater and the ONLY heater to replace was a DUAL heater. No worries, after letting ice on coils defrost, I moved the RED wire( the refrigerator has 2 wires going to the heater--- RED and BLUE) across the top of the coils over to the Blue wire and “gently” pull a little slack (about 4 inches) to make the RED wire the same length as the BLUE….. no need to use the supplied wiring kit with the heater. After the wire was rerouted to the bottom—where the new heater is installed-- I connected the wires, installed the heater, put on cover and plugged the refrigerator back to power.
ALL-in-ALL, very EASY install.
The actual time to install the heater--- about 15 min. BUT to defrost the coils takes about 45 min.

Very easy repair with great directions

I unpluged frig..I took the light cover off.. took 2 screws out of back panel.. removed back panel.. took 2 screws out of the Defrost heater and removed it ... Mine was a single bulb heater so I moved the wire to right side and spliced the jumper wire to it and put the new double bulb defrost heater in and reinstalled back panel and light cover and turned back on

Unplug power cord, remove defrost timer cover on refrigerated side, unbolted timer, unplugged wire connection, plugged in new timer, replaced cover, Plug in power cord.

I watched the Utube video, repeated the process at home while awaiting the part, and installed the flapper door in about 15 minutes after it arrived--piece of cake. The hardest part was removing the escutcheon plate on the front of the freezer door. I figured out I could slide a putty knife under it and the rest of the project was completed in no time at all.

thawed out the heat exchanger in behind the panel in freezer with a heat gun. removed the old defrost heater kit and installed the new one. and as a note follow the directions because if you have a single element you are removing and installing a double element you really need to follow the instructions so you dont miss anything.

It never occured to me that those tracks could be taken out and given a good cleaning. We would take the drawers out and clean them, but trying to clean the tracks of the brackets while in the refrigerator was clumsy and ineffective. I also thought the appliance was too old to get parts for. When the bracket broke, I decided to see what I could find on the internet before going out to buy a new refrigerator. Taking everything out of the fridge and removing and properly cleaning everything took quite some time and effort, but actually changing out the part was easy. It would have been even easier if I had a magnetic screwdriver, but I managed without one.

Very easy to repair. Make sure you have a block of wood the distance from the floor to the refrig door so the door does not fall on you. Remove the two bolts holding the door and carefully lift the door away from the fridge and lower it so it clears the top hinge. Carefully lay the door on it's side so you can remove the other two bolts and the other hinge. Remove the plastic refrig dairy door so it does not fall on the floor and crack when you remove the refrig door. Reverse the process to assemble.

Replaced the gasket and the hinge assembly. Replaced the hinge assembly on the freezer door as well since it was worn. YOU DO NOT NEED A DREMEL to cut anything. People doing that are trying to save $10 but don't do it. Just order the hinge assembly. It comes with the loose cam riser and the second cam riser that is attached to the hinge. DON'T CUT ANYTHING. Super easy. I prepped the door for the hinge replacement the night before. Removed fridge magnets, etc. Moved everything from inside the door to the shelves. Got home from work (package was there in two days, fast) and it took 5 minutes for the Fresh Food Door hinge replacement. Removed hinge cover, removed 4 hex screws (two on top and two on bottom). Swapped hinge and cam. Be sure to use the cam that came with the hinge. Always replace in pairs. Freezer was more tricky. Turned off water. Had to remove a clip (small phillips head screw) on the white tubing. Unscrewed plastic nut. Pulled off spring from tubing. Set spring, nut, and clip with screw aside. Removed hinge cover, unplugged electronics, removed 4 hex screws (two on top and two on bottom). Swapped hinge and cam. Super easy.

ordered new parts , came in 2 days and just made the repairs today and took only about 15 min total time all the parts fit right on and the only problem was holding the door and stting it on the lower rod, But my wife helped on the lower end. all in all it went great.
