ice dispenser chute kept freezing with condensation
The flapper on the ice chute was curled up and not creating a good seat, so the chute kept clogging up with frozen condensation, especially during the humid summer months. The online video made it so easy to replace the part myself. I was able to fix the problem in under 15 minutes and at a fraction of the price!

Ice Maker stopped working
Took out one hex screw, disconnect electric couplings, pulled original ice maker out and found that the water supply line to the ice maker was frozen solid as well as the shute cup. Used hair dryer to thaw out the line and the cup reinstaled old ice maker and it worked fine. Did not have to use the new part at all at this time. Am keeping new part for future use.

Defrost Unit (Heater Element) in Freezer - Burnt out 2nd time
The repair was simple, thanks to PartSelect guiding me to get the right part ordered. But I'll get back to that later. First I unplugged the fridge... The hard part was getting the food out of the freezer as there was a lot of ice because of frozen condensation. Once the freezer was empty I removed the back panel with 4 screws and exposed the burnt out Defrost Unit (heater element). Before touching anything, I had to pour and spray warm water to melt the ice so I can access the screws to take them out and remove the broken part. After that it was easy, I replaced the unit attached the colored wires same as they were, waited a little while for the Frost to melt away, and reinstalled the cover panel with screws. I pushed back the fridge to its location and plugged it back in wall. 20 minutes later the fridge is operational and all is well. The whole thing cost me no more than $34. The first time this unit broke, I called GE to report the problem; they sent a technician to replace it; I spent over $400 for the same repair and more than a week without a ridge. PartSelect is a very efficient and successful operation, I will use them from now on, and their website is easy to maneuver around, precise on parts, explicit in schematics and the agents are friendly; GE is lucky to have them around for the consumers to repair their failed GE Appliances. Thank you, Tony -

Freezer was not freezing ice and the coils were freezing up.
After turning the defrost timer and hearing that it was shutting down the fan for defrost, I realized that the heater was not kicking on. I was not sure if it was the thermal sensor or the heater itself, so for a few dollars more ordered the whole assembly. After turning off the power to the fridge, I opened the door and used a space heater on a chair to defrost the coils. I just had to unplug the heater/thermostat assembly, remove a couple of screws from the existing heater, remove and re-assemble. By the following morning we had ice, the coils were defrosting and the fridge was cold again.

Refrig door did not have a stop point when opened
Repair was exactly as described on U-Tube video. The whole process, including removing items stored on the refrig door, took around 20 minutes and involved only a screwdriver and one socket. Could not have been much easier. Dont know why I delayed fixing what had been a long term annoyance.

Replaced worn out GE Refrigerator Door Hinge Cam Riser WR02X10140
MY issue was a old worn out hinge cam on the right side door of our 1993 GE Profile Refrigerator. My repair went great- exactly as depicted in the PartSelect You Tube video: 'Refrigerator Repair- Replacing the Hinge Cam Riser (GE Part # WR02X10140)' Excellent video! Having the PartSelect on line video demo gave me confidence to buy the part and "just do it" to make the replacement. Watching the video confirmed my own assessment of the (very simple) repair procedure, and eliminated my wife's fear that I would remove the 19 yr old refrigerator door and then not be able to put the door back in place! I ordered two WR02X10140 hinge cam parts so I would have a spare. I know we need a new more energy efficient refrigerator, but our GE Profile is still fine for our family. This hinge cam replacement will give my wife more time to make a well researched decision on our next refrigerator purchase! You made me a 'home hero husband'. Great job- Thanks!!!
