I pulled down the wire around the glass cover. . . Released on end of the wire from its holder being careful to not let the glass cover drop. Unscrewed the bulb and replaced with replacement. Easy, easy.

I unpluged the oven, removed the oven door by slideing it off the hinges, removed the racks, took the bottom pan out exposing the igniter,while attempting to remove the 2 screws holding the igniter to the bracket, I discovered that they where stripped so I had to use vise grips to remove them. I went to the hardware store bought replacements and installed the igniter. I then removed the protective cover over the wires, stripped them put on the wire nuts provided with the kit put the protective shield back pluged the unit in turned it on, checked it, then put it back together. The stripped screws were the only difficult part.

I removed the two screws that hold the element. This took most of the time because one of the screw broke. Then I unplug the power,took the igniter out and disconnect the wire and reverse the procedure.

I unpluged the electrical cord first. Then pulled the stove away from wall. Next removed oven racks, the bottom of the oven. Then removed the deflector plate over the burner. The next step I removed the broil pan. Now the oven area is empty. Nice and easy to remove the igniter with nut driver. Two screws and wire nut that are behind the stove wall. Now I just reversed the procedure. Very easy. The only thing I'm not sure where the insulation block go's. The wires go through back oven wall hole. There was no insulation there before? So I put a small piece just behind the igniter over the wire. Will this catch fire I don't know? If someone knows let me know. Other than that it works.

Since I had never done anything like this, I watched your video twice. The oven door and racks came out easily. The wire connectors had burned, fusing the plastic parts. I cut them off and spent more time looking for a wire stripper than on the repair. The new igniter looked just like my 1993 oven part. Works great. Be SURE to unplug and turn off gas before starting!

Ordered the part from this site. It arrived In the time thy said it would. Removed old oven igniter and replaced with new one. Removal of screws and old igniter. Replaced with new igniter and put screws back nd it was working again

Called a repairman who came to the house to check the oven and stated it could be one of 3 things but he was not sure what it would be. Stated 2 of the parts would be $200 and the third would be a rebuilt part costing $400. At his suggestion we ordered a new oven. However, before it came in the old oven started working so we cancelled the order. When it would not light a few weeks later, we went to the Maytag website and was directed to PartSelect. I first looked online at a video on how to replace the igniter prior to recieving the part. The part arrived 2 days after I ordered it (Christmas Day) and was an exact replacement. Taking the oven apart was the most difficult issue since there was some grease missed in the last cleaning plus a couple very tight screws. The igniter unplugged easily and reinstalled without cutting/splicing any wires. Oven was back together and fired up within 20 minutes. Outstanding service and would highly recommend PartSelect.

I am so gald I found Parts select. I was going to order a Gas valve for $140. All the comments said the problem was a bad igniter. even though the igniter was glowing bright it was not drawing enough pawer to open the gas valve. I purchased the igniter installed it in 15 minutes and my oven works like new.

Followed the excellent instructions on your web site. I removed the oven burner assembly to make it easier to install the new igniter. The connector on the new igniter matched the one in my oven exactly. It helps to have the oven light on!

There was a lot of trepidation about starting this project. What if this is the wrong part? What if I hook it up wrong? What if the gas line is not properly secured when I'm done? This is why it took my 6 months to start this project. I hesitantly looked up my product number online and partselect.com returned three of the top ten results so I clicked it.
