Drawer lid hinge broken
The large pull out full width drawer cover hinge pin broke off on the left side. The repair is easy with just two tools, a 1/4" nut driver and a phillips head screw driver. I removed the two conventional drawers that sit above the wide drawer with the broken hinge. Next lift out the glass divider that sits on top of the wide drawer and set it aside and remove the two braces front and back by lifting them out of their respective grooves. Remove the wide drawer with the lid by pushing in on the two black clips on each side of the drawer slide up towards the front and pull entire drawer out while putting pressure on the two clips at the same time. The drawer should come out leaving the drawer slides behind. Unscrew the 1/4" hex screws on the broken side panel using the nut driver and gently pull the side panel straight back toward you. Remove the drawer slide from the broken piece by unscrewing the two phillips head screws and rescrew the drawer slide onto the new side panel. Replace everything in reverse order. One note: do not use too much torque on the screws when replacing the parts as they only screw into plastic, this will avoid them stripping out. A snug fit is all you're after. There now, go pop a beer and sit down and relax, you are now a refrigerator repair man!

ice maker leaking and freeing into icebergs`
easy enough, removed 3 screws, unplugged wiring harness, put new unit on work bench, put old wire harness on new unit, put old motor cover on new unit,(the only trouble i had was figuring out how to swap the light blue plastic piece for the white plastic piece, i just put a screwdriver underneath and applied pressure) plugged harness back into freezer, turned water back on and waited... 2 hours later heard beautiful ice cubes dropping into tray :)

inlet valve leaked water after installation
The ice maker was easy but the older Maytag inlet valves are rigid plastic line- make sure that line is properly connected to back of fridge- the 1st night the water leaked down back of freeze- thus no ice in ice maker tray ----but the bottom of freezer was full of frozen water--- took ice maker off and realigned inlet pipe- once that was done- no more problems- ( did also have to take hair dryer and remove all ice build up in bottom of freezer --- remember to check that rigid line as it can become detached while changing out ice maker assembly- thx Greg

Had to completely remove the ice maker in order to install the replacement part
Sorry for delay in writing. Part I ordered arrived two days ago and it was exactly what I needed. Knowing that there will be problems even with the smallest job I procrastinated starting. When I did start this morning I foud I had to completely remove the ice maker and disassemble it in order to install the water fill cup bracket. The challenge was reassembling the unit. Not hard for an experienced repairman but a challenge for layman. Everything is thing is back to gether now and power on cooling down the refrigerator. Won't know how successful it was until turn on water and ice is formed. If it works this saved $75 just to get a Sears repairman to come out and tell me what would be needed to fix the refrigerator and $1,000 if I had to buy a new refrigerator. Extremely satisfied with service I received. Thank you.

broken hinge pin
Lift drawer off sliders. Remove two screws holding drawer slider. Remove two screws holding left side pantry end cap. Screw new end cap into place. Screw draw slide into place. Replace drawer. It was a quick repair and finding the replacement part was real easy since the right side end cap needed replacing last year for the same problem. Weak design, but that's another story.
